I think Mother Nature causes and makes the weather. . . Razz

I would chalk it up to the mountain that jets out into the ocean.

http://www.neahkahnie.net/realestate/weather.html "Local Manzanita weather (below) is coming directly from our own weather station at our beachfront home. Manzanita definitely has its own weather. We are referred to as "the banana belt" of the north coast as Neahkahnie Mountain, which plunges into the sea at Manzanita, often redirects fog and storms out to sea rather than letting them come ashore at Manzanita."

I would be surprised if those clouds and showers come ashore at Manzo.

Neahkahnie rocks! Usually when you look up at the mountain you can see it splitting the weather system and pushing the clouds inland Smile I've got some great pictures of this. When it's raining and there's no wind on the north coast, it's sunny and windy in Manzanita Smile

stability causes this. If high pressure sets up over the Mts then well, uh, the wind blows over the mountains missing the beach.

If at all the pressure pops and becomes un-unstable, it'd likely be sucker winds if H pressure sits.

stability sucks.

i see what you are saying

high pressure as it rotates to the right is set up, or localized whether such as big Cum-NImbs, can cause sudden down draft and TEMPORARY GUST FRONT, directed the weather up into the clouds during moments of instability, which if you recall from previous thought, that unstable is good because that mean the air molecules want to move forward and up into clouds. High Pressure pushes down stable-izing air, stable air doesn't want to move, it just compresses and causes us grief!
