Mark's probably right but watch the actuals. Weather is dnyamic and forecasts are just predictions.

I usually check the sensors on the NW kite page and WoW about 3pm and make my call then based on actual wind speeds and temp & pressure deltas.

About this time of year, when river levels have dropped, tides start to make a difference too. I use the tide charts for Knapp Landing (closer to SI kite beach than Kelley Point or St.Helens). For SI, outgoing tides increase the apparent wind speed and incoming tides decrease it.

for what its worth, we scored a pretty sweet airport session yesterday. Much more reliable sensor and the airport still works when there is a slight westerly slant to the wind.

If its blowing NNW or NW at sauvie your going to get skunked. With NE or NNE it still works but not NW.

One last thing, if you look up in the sky and see clouds your mind should not think hmmm, I wonder if Sauvie will go. 9 out of 10 times, Sauvie is driven by very clear skies and warm temps.
