Thu Jun 04, 09 7:28 am Jones Beach today? |

7AM UPDATE: This morning easterly gradients are very light and models are all indicating a turn to westerly gradients. Just how quickly is the main question this morning. I'm expecting that westerly gradients will be too little too late for the Gorge. Best bet for any solid late day westerlies will be at Jones Beach. ...
Western Gorge: Mild winds NW reaching early for Jones Beach, building to maybe mid teens late. Stevenson to Cascade Locks seeing some modest morning easterlies into the low teens. Fading and beginning to turn W in the afternoon. |

Yeah, we'll see what happens with the cloud cover and what not. If it goes early enough I could be down for a session, although I gotta be home by 6:30. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

I'm thinking waiting for the 11:30 update on the forecast and then making a leap of faith if it's still looking good. Worst that can happen is drinking a couple of beers on the beach. |

11:30am Update- Winds still blowing easterly through the Corridor and Western Gorge. Also, winds at Cape Blanco are still blowing offshore. These factors indicate that the onshore push is going to be a slow turn. Look for a modest build at Jones Beach and across the East, but the Corridor and Western Gorge look to lag behind. ...
Ikite sensor at Jones is reading 1 out of the NW. |

| Other forecasts are calling for SW winds to develop on the coast. Last check that looks to be happening. Anyone know if Jones goes off with SW flow on the coast? I've never looked at that... I'd make a leap of faith & go if there's a decent chance it might go off. |

Woo Hoo! Now THAT was a fun session! Thre of us were killing it out there till the weather rolled in. Fully powered 11m wind. we didn't get the killer gusts. It just died all of a sudden. Fortunately, everyone saw it coming and came in. |

| That was my first time to Jones. Holy cow that was fun! It was good to see u out there too Mike. Felt certain w/your understanding of storm systems u wouldn't have been out if it was too sketch, and it turned out to be sweet! Starting to get my transitions down - whoopee! |
