Hey I made this post about a year ago, and got one PM about it so I'm still looking for some information.

Background: I'm a new kiteboarder, learned in Corpus two years ago spring break, haven't been able to get out much so I'm still learning.

I have a 9m Helix, and am possibly looking to pick up another kite for riding during the summer. I'm also in need of a board, I've been demoing boards when I've been out previously. I'm 6'1 ~170lbs.

If anyone has any information about places to ride around the Eugene area I'd appreciate it. Any info on Fern Ridge would be awesome. Not confident in my skills yet to ride Florence Sad

Hey I'm from Eugene also, currently attending the U of O. I went down to Floras Lake last friday and it was a sweet spot. I'm looking to go down there again this friday. It's about a 3 hour drive, but definitely worth it.
Let me know if you're interested.

Probably not gonna happen this early in the season for me. I still need to pick up a new wetsuit and board for sure. Possibly a 13m for lighter wind.

But for sure we can road trip it July/Aug

Alright I'll actually be in Portland the whole summer. I might still be interested in going back to Floras though.

you're pretty much SOL if you want to go kiting in the eugene area during the summer and not at florence, the gorge is only about 3 hrs and an easier drive than floras

there is a lake near you-Dorena, I think it is called-that I kited on about 5 years ago. some small local sports shop had a little demo there once that I heard about.

It can be very shallow and has random dry or slightly covered areas to watch out for, and has elevated banks and is a little mountainous, so a bit gusty and the relaunch can be hit-n-miss near shore. I had fun, but have no Idea about the usual wind conditions. it was summer time. there were a bunch of small sailboats and a windsurfer when I was there.
