Im about 200 lbs and want to kite. Which kite should I buy?....kidding....
Somewhat new to kiting and weather predicting. But really new to predicting the wind out here on the north coast. Im wondering what it is I should be looking for to create the conditions we had last friday and sat out here. It seems like a lot of the same weater patterns for this weekend, but to my disappointment, the normal ol noaa isnt calling for much more than light puffs. What gives? |

Hmmm, in a nutshell, its complicated. The summer winds in the gorge are generally caused by differential heating of the east and west side of the cascades. The coastal winds ummm....I don't know what creates the coastal winds really. Warm land and cold water? high pressure systems?
high pressure systems rotate clockwise so that is what causes the northerly direction winds. Low pressure systems rotate counterclockwise and create southern winds. Its the coriolis affect. So its the other way around in the southern hemisphere. |
