nice brett! I went SUP with my daughter yesterday and took the goPro along, but battery died...
your video kind of makes up for it. _________________ www.jimstringfellow.com |

Great vid -
Was out on the Willamette yesterday for the first time on a SUP. Looking to possibly buy - any thoughts on size/make? Want to be able to paddle on rivers but also take in the surf.
Thanks |

mine is a 10'6" Jimmy Lewis All Around Surf, and I really like it.
It's a little slow to turn in the surf, but all of them are except the ones in the 9 feet range (that I've tried).
The all around is awesome because it also does well in the river. My wife can ride on this board no problem (she is fairly new to this), and I can still push it (a little anyway) in the surf. I have surfed head+ waves on it so far and been fine. That said, I can't shred like Gerri Lopez does when he's out there with me.
I haven't tried any of the Naish, but they make a whole range of them. I probably wouldn't go less than 10' if you're doing river paddling though, more stable... even at 10'6", I'll be standing there solid as a rock, and then in an instant be in the water...
BTW: If you're in Portland, you should go down to Gorge Performance on Wednesdays. Bob has set up a SUP Wednesday on the Willamette. You might get to try out some different boards that way. |

| I have the 11'6" naish and I love it. Also width makes a huge difference in how stable a sup is. I rode some really tippy twelve footers. |

Thanks guys -
I was on a 11'6" Mistral (friends board) and noticed that the paddle had cut into the side of the board in different places exposing the foam core. He's had it for about 3 years but the outer material seemed too soft.
I am in Ptown so I'll head down to GP and check them out. |
