Fri Apr 24, 09 11:11 pm Slingshot Power Ball Left or Right on T2 ?????????????? |
|
|
In the video,,,, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9a_GL3OoFns Tony says that it goes on the right and travels towards the bar when you pull the depower. My kite is set up with the ball on the left so that is moves away from the bar when you pull on the depower. In the manual it shows it on the left also. WTF.
With the ball on the wrong side it seems to defeat the purpose of having it??? They didn't want the bar to go all the way forward?????????????
I got the T2 at the swap and want to make sure it's set up right. |

I'm not sure it matters all that much. The last coupe times I was riding unhooked and let go of the bar, the stopper ball slid way down to the point I couldn't depower. Probably because I am hooking my leash right to the depower line.
i think I am going to just take it off but haven't really looked at it to determine what the actual purpose of the ball is.... Anyone?
mine is on the right... |

You have to remember, this video was for the original Turbo Diesel. They were a lot more prone to inverting than the T2/T3 which had significant changes to their bridle.
Because I haven't ridden either a whole bunch lately (and in all conditions), I'm not sure, but I'd assume the new Turbos are good on the left side, just like the REVs. Obviously, with the '06 TD, SS didn't want the kite to depower any more than a certain point. That's why the ball was added to the right side. Makes your stroke smaller, but the amount of overall depower remains close to the same when sheeted out. |

Definitely wouldn't be too worried about removing it on your 14m, Brian. If it were on a smaller kite (that were out in punchier wind), I'd test it before completely taking it off. Only gives you a couple extra inches of throw, so it's probably okay.
Tucker took his Active Stopper off last year, but that's most likely because he didn't want to re-thread the used chicken loop rope after tweaking the bar. |

| Yeah, I removed the powerball thingy from all of my Rev's & T2s. Never had a problem with either kite inverting. |
