So.....

I'm looking for a light wind kite. I'm 165 lbs. Winds from 8-20 mph.

I found a used SS Link 15m for $550, hoping I can talk em down.

Don't know about this kite. Seemed to come out one year and be gone the next.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

They fly, but they're not the greatest things in the world. I didn't mind them (rode the 7, 9, & 10.5m) a few years back when I was getting destroyed on my FUELs in super-gusty conditions, but by today's standards, they leave a lot to be desired.

EDITED: Forgot a word.

The bigger the worse with the Link, just too heavy to be a good lightwind.

I have a 12 and it does not like light winds. Stalls, backtracks and generally falls out of the sky whenever left on its own. Fortunately, I wanted the bar as much as the kite.

Besides $500 used would be way overpriced for a link. They were down to $600 new last I saw.

Yeah,

That's what I feared.

Oh well, the search continues.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hobbsla

I have a 15 Link with the "new" red bridle that was suppose to "cure" the problems...it didn't.

Slow and heavy as everyone has stated. I flew mine twice. Kite only; $50 bucks so you can see for yourself.

However, one benefit, excellent car cover potential or "write-off" donation for some clown to make a hand bag out of it. Very Happy

the "link" should be called the "hindenberg",...cause that's all I see them do Razz

ok, I take that back,..A buddy of mine has a 9m and 12m link,....loves the 9m. Really have to fly them with a lot of power because they have no low end. Basicly this is not the ideal light wind kite.

For that much money you could get a brand new 14m T2 off e-bay. that is a stellar light wind kite.

I have been searching and searching for one for like 2 weeks! Not as many out there as you might think. I don't think people are letting them go. Tons of 7s and a few 9s but 14s.. not so many. The best deal I've found yet is a used T2 14 for $650 which is really good and I'm thinking about it. But if I can stay under $500 then peace shall remain in my household! Very Happy

$550 is too much for a Link.

On the PS Kite forum I saw this for $500:

2008 Air Rush Vapor

Not sure if he is selling it complete? Might be worth checking out?

hobsla. I got a good deal on my t2 by emailing the seller and making him an offer. You might want to remind them that T2's are what, two seasons old now. At some point they are not going to get anything for them.

I would think you could get it for $500 shipped. Whatever you do, get a decent skim board to go with it. Not only do you really extend your light wind ability, but it makes riding in light winds actually kind of fun. 8 knots with a twin tip...YAWN.
