hey man this is Donny Baker. Never hit a seagull with a kite but one time me and Stevie Winkler were out bass fishin. There was some seagulls flying around and stuff so I casted my bass lure at em and caught one. Reeled him in, took the hook out and he flew away. i gotta go.

White Gull Down occurred for me at Waddell in 03'; the bird hit the line approximately halfway to the kite and was briefly hung-up in the rigging before plunging to an inner watery churn. Took recon measures, but was never able to locate winged victim.

...A few years later was able to make amends with the winged white rat at Depoe Bay on a honeymoon stay. Po Gul presented himself early in the stay with a 1 ounce lead tear drop weight tethered tight around the right leg. After calling animal rescue and seeing no results, took matters into my own hands and baited Gulbert inside the room. When he took the bait, was able to approach and cut-the offending fishing line off amidst a flapfest before my gull whisperer instincts kicked-in.

We were in SPI last week and my friend started feeding them chips - next thing you know it was like a Hitchcock movie! One of them had one leg and was particularly vocal, but not fast enough to beat the others to the ones on the ground, so he started jumping into the air and grabbing chips as we tossed them. We nicknamed him Red Baron.

The next morning we came out to load up the cars and gulls were hanging out in the driveway, so my buddy started waving them away and throwing stuff at them. That afternoon at the North Flats and a flock of gulls came out of nowhere and started flying around us, then one lined up right over my buddy's head and dropped a bomb! They might have small brains (forgot to factor in wind so he was spared) but they must have pretty decent memory!

Kyle, not sure how I missed ya Sat. as I was on the beach almost all day.

i was at rockaway (at NW4th st) between 3pm and 6pm, approximately. I didn't see any other kiters, but wasn't surprised due to the rain and mushy waves. too bad we missed each other. tried to go out sunday AM, but it was nuking in the the 40s i think.Shocked
That said, i got a few good rides on shoulder high waves. 11m, too, for me.

OK, your first post said you were in Seaside. Seaside is going to be the call on many South days as the clouds and rain will pile up south of Tillamook head, leaving a sun and wind hole on the north side. Thumb's Up

I believe it is a target for young (chicks?)seagulls to peck at to get the adult to regurgitate food. MMM Good!!!

ding ding ding we have a winner.

I always thought it was to make them look superior. Cause other gulls don't have that spot, and their kids get fed just fine. Maybe they are hindu Shocked
