I am getting closer to making my custom line sets. Commercial pigtails I found have
insane price tag. An obvious solutions is to make my own. So, what is the suitable material for DIY project? I found the following lines that look OK, but would like to get a feedback before hanging my old bones on the line Smile

And if you have any suggestions on making your own pigtails, please pitch in.

Yeah, that stuff is harder to work with than you think. The knots you tie for the pigtail will slip. Use 800# spectra and splice your pigtails. You have to make them about 12" long.

I'm a big believer in making your own lines, but I gotta say that it's a lot easier to spend $15 on a set of pigtails.

I've found numerous pigtails on the beach....Start collecting them and you'll never need to make any.

Thanks Nak. Actually making the stuff wasn't that difficult. I made both knot and loop pigtails. For this first attempt I imitated SS design, but for the real stuff I will do just one double overhand knot for a knot pigtail. As for the material, I settled on 1/8" AmSteel. Final thing feels at least as solid as an original.

then get your dam head outta the gutter Rolling Eyes

next time your at the precious sandbar look down at your feet instead of the kite. Maybe pick up some kite related garbage that would show others, kiters can pick up after themselves Thumb's Up

In the process you might get a pair of pigtails... Razz
