Some knucklehead $6/hour cook forgot to turn off the pilot light, the mountain's last day was Saturday and it burned Sun morning.....the lodge was built in the 30's and had shiity wiring as you can imagine.

The good thing about it is it force ole John McLain's (Bruce Willis) into building a new lodge that was already planned, but not scheduled for construction till 2013. Sweet new lodge goes in, 1 new Quad and we've got a kicka** backup for no-wind days on the Camas.

Oh yea, fire never smelt so good.......glad no one got hurt in the blaze!

This is not a surprise to me. The fire department is all volunteer, so the volunteers would have to first respond to the fire station, get geared up and drive to the resort. The roads are very curvey and slow. Taking all that into consideration, the possibilites of putting out any sizable fire in that lodge is next to impossible. Hopefully they can rebuild something to replace the old place with a fire sprinkler system in it. The good thing is nobody was injured or worse, killed.

I got to ski there last season had a great 1/2 day with good friends. Three of us got to ski for under $25.00 for 1/2 day. (that includes the meadows season pass discount) We were getting fresh tracks at three in the afternoon.

What a bummer, it was a rad little spot. Glad to hear noone got hurt and they had plans in the works to replace it though.
