yeah, that can be hazerdous. I knew a guy that killed himself that way. Charged an open cell battery in his skiff all night.... which releases hydrogen gas in the process. Came down the next morning and started the skiff.... BOOOM!!!

what a shitty way to go.

You guys have wakeboarded behind a tournament boat, right? All inboard/IO boats have a blower for their engine compartment to remove explosive gases so I don't think you would have to worry about that.

In my opinion, this is something that the wakeboard community desperately needed. Way to go EPIC!!!! Very Happy

I don't understand how it's more efficient in the same way hybrid cars are? Does it recharge is batteries as it slows down? Or does it just use a different kind of energy?

It's hard to make things foolproof
Because fools are so ingenious.

I've popped a couple batteries
nice the way the acid washes off

once from removing a battery charger
in a trunk in a closed battery compartment,
stung my hand bad for a couple hours ,
blew off the top of the battery

and once while hooking a battery up
under the seat in a semi closed airspace
sprayed my face also blew off the top .

And not to worry about saving fuel
I just installed a 113 gal USCG approved tank $650(only 3 tankfulls)
in my 12 cylinder carbo combustomizer
so anything that could replace that would be great Very Happy

Yeah, what the heck? They need to take some lessons from the masters (no pun intended). Wink

Until proven otherwise, I would look at this "hybrid" as a skam, and the advertisement as an example of lying with statistics.

I will be interested in hearing more details about the design of the power plant, and the method used to arrive at the "50%" or "twice the" efficiency/mileage/performance rating.

I'll be surprised if it is powered by a "diesel-electric" design engine...or has any type of regenerative battery charging feature.

It may just have a transmission, fed by an electric motor and a gas engine...when the batteries die, the gas engine kicks in.

Here is a forum discussing the subject:

http://forums.wakeboarder.com/viewtopic.php?t=80717&sid=8826c332811be15eed1d20092685b2cd

Hope I am wrong, in my skepticism!
