Tue Feb 24, 09 8:19 pm Question about mystic warrior waist/seat harness? |
|
|
So I thought I might want to hang up the assless chaps for one season and go with a new harness. I decided on the mystic warrior waist/seat harness - seams pretty cool and all - however, I got one question. How am I supposed to wear board shorts with this harness? I came up with four options:
#1. Wear the board shorts underneath - it works, but looks rather silly and sort of defeats part of the purpose of wearing board shorts.
#2. Wear the board shorts over the back of the harness - it will ride all the way up to wear the safety leash rests - looks rather rediculous to have your shorts that hi - especially if people don't know its a seat/waist harness - I might as well go back to my assless chaps.
#3. Sag the board shorts below the harness' back. The shorts will fall off the first time I eat shit - don't want a repeat of last year.
#3. Don't wear board shorts.
Any suggestions? _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

ROFL - - Didn't think about that one!! That would be my own style!
Anyways, I had bought the waist/seat harness for a couple of reasons. I have pretty much only ridden with my dakine nitrous shorts - and i wanted to try something different. I liked the waist/seat harness because I can tuck the seated part underneath and just ride with a waist harness - and if I prefer the waist harness I can cut off the seated part fairly easily. But I didn't want to go full waist all the way cus I wasn't sure if they would ride up. I have tried other waist harnesses, but I didn't really like them - they would ride up and put too much pressure on my ribs (cut off my breathing to some extent). So I thought the seated part would help prevent them from riding up - and the seated part takes pressure off my ribs - I really don't want to break any ribs while I am riding (this has happend to a couple of my friends using waist harnesses). _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

| Waist harnesses only ride up on noobs who keep their kite to high when riding....you should be fine with the waist harness Moto. Especially the Mystic, they have an extra spredar bar strap that keeps it from riding up on ya. |

You shouldn't have to ask, but I'll repeat the rules anyway.
You must always wear board shorts over the top of what ever else you are wearing. Including street clothes or other board shorts. The only exception is if you are showering, kiting at a nude beach, or surfing without a kite. Then its OK to wear just one pair of board shorts over your naughty junk (aka kiter commando).
BTW, this is a great deal on good board shorts (no bull):

just wanted to chime in here,....
I have an "inverted sternum"...and cannot wear a waist harness due to the amount of pain and suffering from riding up. That was before I found the Mystic warrior....most comfortable waist harness ever made.
Moto, your girlish figure is fine for the mystic. If you come down to snowdaze you more than welcome to come try it out. they run a lil over sized,....I have a medium thats almost to big. But i can get you a size large if you need it. _________________ I stretch my wings and pull the strings |

So basically Forest is asking if you look like an apple or a pear.
I made the switch last year from a seat harness to the mystic. The first time I rode the mystic my back and abs were sore for a couple of days afterwards. About the second or third time I used it the soreness never came back. Comfort wise they are about the same. They don't really ride up that much but I do find myself wiggling it down every hour or so. I also think a waist harness will improve your riding stance.
Its a little easier to unhook because the hook is higher, hooked in loops really put stress on the back though.
Overall, I'm glad i made the switch. The mystic is comfortable, easy to get on and off, doesn't ride up, and doesn't pinch your jim-jams like a seat harness can. |

I've tried the Mystic, not sure which one...
I like the Pyro and Tabu better... mainly cause almost everyone on here with a REV, has a Mystic... and I don't want people to think I ride REV's... _________________ Shallow Dive Design, 2nd Wind Sports, Airush, Trident Sports |

Circumference? Man I didn't know I had to have a major in geometry to kite I like monkey's anology better - apple or a pear, hmm, I would have to say I look more like a piece of celery - especially when my hair is messed up!
No seriously - I have had other waist harnesses ride up on me and its uncomfortable - it constricts my breathing which leads to faituge faster. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |
