. . . I decided on the mystic warrior waist/seat harness - seams pretty cool and all - however, I got one question. How am I supposed to wear board shorts with this harness?. . .
Any suggestions?
I think a better question and concern of yours is how are you going to wear your ankle weights with your new harness?

Well, get a tape measure and measure under your arm pits and then around your belly, at your belly button.
Obviously, this is theoretical.
When you're riding without having to sign the kite, your kite should be at 45 and your upper body should be leaning back. This makes the kite pull perpendicular to your body and your harness won't want to rise.
The opposite is true for any harness, if you're not trying to keep the pull perpendicular to your body, your harness is going to attempt to rise. It's complicated by a larger belly than chest.
You can overcome the rise by keeping your body perpendicular to the pull, even when you jump by leaning back, getting it wet before you put it on, and tightening the hell out of it.
The one thing you can do now is to start doing push-ups to increase the size of your chest by the time kiting season is around.

Thanks for the riding tips - and yes, my stumach is smaller than my chest

I got the Ocean Rodeo Harness and I love it! Its a waist harness with leg straps that hide under your board shorts so it won't ride up on you. It doesn't look like your wearing a diaper like seat harness do.
Its a great harness if you have a gut or a inverted sternum, and damnit I have both. I need that 12 week diet so I can look like Gman

I'm partial to the Mystic Impact Harness.
http://www.live2kite.com/product_info.php?products_id=345
It protects my 46 year old bod, gives me floatation, and incorporates the waist harness, whilst not not restricting the nugs.
It also makes me more cool than pdxmonkeyboy

lol...doesn't that rule out about 50% of the kiting population using waist harnesses?

Can't imagine why YOU would need flotation.
