I'm looking for a great right handed wave to travel to for 6 weeks next winter. I would love to go to Peru or western oz but I hate going left on a wave. Any advise would be great. I'm also interested in south Africa(does it have any right waves). Thanks Smile

J-Bay is arguably the best right hander in the world in South Africa. Our winter=their summer and it may be the wrong season. Are you looking for a heavy short board wave or a mellow long board wave? There a bunch of right handers in Baja, but some are a bit fickle.

glad to hear i'm not the only goofy rider out there...

I am happy to say though that surfing the right in PC has taught me to ride switch... so now I can surf regular too! I'm not as good as goofy, which isn't saying much because I suck riding lefts too... Smile... but at least i can hit it!

Australia would be the place to go.

Kirra---burleigh heads---or a number of other points.

Their summer is our winter and kiteboarding is huge in OZ.

Hi, I am also looking for the perfect right hand wave! preferably one close to Oregon with palm trees, girls wearing little bikinis, bars on the beach, and perfect wind all day. Well actually wind every other day so I could get in some windless surf sessions. I also don't want to have to pay for lodging. And it would be great if there was no one else there. Thanks guys.

If you're talking about kiting, you'd be hard pressed to find a better right hand set up than Punta San Carlos in Baja.

Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Otter Rock on central Oregon coast will fit this description. Just bring plastic palms to stick in the beach sand, a porn mag for the bikinis, a six-pack of Keystone cans for the bar and there is plenty of wicked south wind during winter. You may have to adjust your perfection barometer for the crappy waves, and you can legally sleep on the beach in Oregon so no worries for cheap lodging. Extra bonus is that it is usually raining, and the air temps range between 30 and 50 degrees. Water right now is a very comfortable 48. Don't worry about the crowds since most of the people at Otter Rock are buoys and rarely make to their feet on take-offs. Perfection awaits you right here in Oregon, why travel to some hot and muggy surf spot half way around the world?

Someone mentioned South Padre Island.
And I would have to agree you would be stoked on the water and air temp, fairly cheap lodging, and laid back atmosphere.

not a perfect right hander but a lot of small rippable waves.

I am looking to do a south padre trip again.
Pretty cool place.
