Thought I would share a good story for everyone and try to share the stoke a little.

So several months ago we were building the unicorn winch and Stringer (Andrew) came over to help one evening with the laborious task of drilling holes in steel stock and screw shit togther. He calls me about 4 nights later and says something to the effect "dude, is my slingshot surfboard sitting out by the road"? Now while I don't live in a particularly bad part of town, its still inner city NE Portland. So the answer is..No, there isn't a surfboard out there. "Shit man, that was by dads board!!" (I make a mental note never to loan my son any of my kite gear at that very moment).

So that pretty much freakin blows as hard as it can possibly blow. I mean, losing your own surfboard would suck hard enough, but loosing your dad's surfboard. Ouch.

Fast forward three months and I'm sitting on the couch and hear a knock on the door. "Hey, I saw that NWkite sticker on your car...do you kiteboard"? I'm thinking great, now people are knocking on my door for lessons. "Yeah, I kiteboard why"?

"Are you missing a kite board?" It took my like 2 seconds to answer.."No, but my buddy is and he sure would be stoked to have it back". "Yeah, ok, it was sitting out across the street for like two days so I asked the lady (the lady nobody talks to) if it was hers and she said go ahead and take it, its just been sitting in my yard".

I offered him reward money (since it wasn't going to come from me anyways Smile ) and he wouldn't take it. He dropped the board off this evening and I gave him a 6-pack of beer. nice to know that there are still honest people in the world.

For the record, the guy is a carpenter who does all kinds of renovation and historically correct restoration. So if you need a carpenter, it may be worth giving Derek a jingle at newolder@gmail.com.

Stringer, my son wants to borrow your board, I hope that's alright.

How about this beer?

"This February, Redhook Ale Brewery will get a bit skinnier with the release of Slim Chance, its first year-round light ale. The beer, named for a daredevil kiteboarding trick, is in the blonde-style tradition, and features a wide variety of golden-kilned malts, a touch of wheat, and subtle aroma hops.

“It’s the beer you want to drink after a hard run, a day on the slopes or a long bike ride, but it’s also great for when you’re just hanging out in the backyard,” said Kim Brusco, brewing operations manager for Redhook Ale Brewery.

You can find Slim Chance in 12-oz bottles and on tap in 12 western states starting this month. It will expand to nationwide distribution starting in March. A six-pack of the country’s only nationally-distributed craft light ale retails for $8.99."

So the kid left dad's board in your neigbors yard - bad kid!

Good Karma!

Pretty sure I used up all of my karma on that one (maybe dipped into monkeyboy's too)
Should be easier to fill up my karma account than my bank account right now.

THANKS!!!

Big grins this morning as that SRT is mine. Many thanks Monkey. Now if I can just get Andrew to bring it back safely. Future words of advice for your son : buy him his own well stocked toolbox and his own kite gear. No borrowing!

I wish karma work everywhere.
I may have driven away from the event site leaving my borrowed kite+lines, plus my board and brand new harness sitting in a nice pile behind my car, but someone still took it.
I know stupid move, but my name and number was on the board and no call.
Hopefully the person that picked up the package, ignoring the fact that the gear will be missed, gets some evil karma back.
I try not to hate, but really I wish everything was actually "all good in the hood"
