Warmest it has been in the last 3 days was 38 degrees (and down to 36 at times)!

Really? WTF R u doing out there alone?! Sorry fellow kite people, but alone is just not good. To me that it arrogant and foolish. Not to bust on this person who posted about a pump or any of the lone kiters, but this is not safe. I don't care how good you are. I went alone last fall and almost ended up not coming home. I realized how stupid I was for not having anyone around at all to help. I really needed help, but was fortunate enough to keep my head and get through it. - but it was sketch. At the end of the day I sat in my bath robe w/ a huge burbon rocks in shaking hand realizing my folly. Sorry to be the rule police, but don't you think this is part of what this forum is for? Safety, skill & kite community? I do enjoy reading the clever and witty banter on this forum as well. Don't want to be finger wagger, really. I'm just concerned for everyone's safety. Am I out of line?

I think it's all about recognizing the risk and planning accordingly. There''s foolish risks and there's calculated risks. A foolish risk is one where you don't understand the risks involved, or convince yourself there is no danger. A calculated risk is where you understand the danger, but have faith in your skills, experience and judgment to see you safely home at the end of the day. Some things are more dangerous than others. An educated risk taker minimizes the risk where he/she can. ( Proper gear, etc. ) A fool does not. (I like to kite in storms & watch the turtles.) To be honest, I think just riding at all back in 2004 was riskier than a solo winter session is today... (Assuming proper gear & preparation.)

Hahaha, melokitergirl doesn't sound very melo Cool Anywho, I was with my wife. I will typically not kitea lone in the winter because if something breaks down I want to know someone is there. I do however feel that my skills are such that I could kite that way if I chose too.

OK, enough of the thread hijak!! I would have thought that more folks had Monday off like me Evil or Very Mad

Ok - so I was arrogant & foolish. Kook? Not so much. Expert? No. I just get a little wigged out knowing you all are out there without anyone. That's all. I've lost friends to various sporting activities and I'm sensitive to it. I also had many margarita's while eating chips and watching TV last night - Booze brings out the "finger wagger" in me. Didn't meant to offend.

Stay warm & safe...
