So I stopped off at Dalton to do a downwinder down to rooster on the way back from the gorge today. Of course I forgot my freaking pumps back at my house.

SO I drove down to Rooster and figured someone would be out kiting. No one was there. Where were all you hobos. Looked like super steady 7m out there Crying or Very sad

I think most of us have jobs...

Look at the bright side, looks like the east winds could be good all week...

Really? WTF R u doing out there alone?! Sorry fellow kite people, but alone is just not good. To me that it arrogant and foolish. Not to bust on this person who posted about a pump or any of the lone kiters, but this is not safe. I don't care how good you are. I went alone last fall and almost ended up not coming home. I realized how stupid I was for not having anyone around at all to help. I really needed help, but was fortunate enough to keep my head and get through it. - but it was sketch. At the end of the day I sat in my bath robe w/ a huge burbon rocks in shaking hand realizing my folly. Sorry to be the rule police, but don't you think this is part of what this forum is for? Safety, skill & kite community? I do enjoy reading the clever and witty banter on this forum as well. Don't want to be finger wagger, really. I'm just concerned for everyone's safety. Am I out of line?

Expressing concern for people out on the river alone.. not out of line at all. Suggesting that they are arrogant and foolish. ummm, pretty much out of line there.

There are allot of people of vastly different skill levels on the forum. Solo activities jack up the risk but can also increase the reward. If you don't feel comfortable doing something, then duh, DON'T.

Shit...I was out kiting on Sunday by Myself...Yeah, would be nice to have your buddies with you but some of them don't kite until late March..
I figure if you toss up a kite, u better understand the risks....and...you better know your limits..!

I figure I head out to Cotton wood beach on Sunday...Look pretty good for the first 1/2 hour...
Wind wasn't that bad....12-13 meter...But the current suck a**.....Staying upwind was a biaatch...Ended up in some spot with a wind shadow...
Crap - my kite falls...Had to swim in about 50 yards....Oh well...

(to any kooks out there - This place only works on a East wind - E or SE winds)

Kiting is not dangerous - swimming in a 4/3 in Feb (bad Tony) Laughing

Always more fun to kite with some friends but nothing wrong with a solo session (just bring a photographer to direct the authorities to the frozen carcuss)

I agree with MonkyBoy and Holly on this one....There is no way in Hell I'm gonna wait until the water gets warmer to kite with the rest of my homeboys....For most of us on this forum...Kiting is an addiction....Some people light up cigaretts, some people pump up kites...Shit, I've been this close to losing my girlfriend over kiting...95% of my friends kite, the other 5 are sitting at home, watching TV, getting old ugly and fat....
There's no time for wasting your life...If you wanna go kite....go...But seriously, you really have to understand the risks and know your level...If your a kook and you think your bad ass but you know your really not and your just a kook, maybe you should stay home and eat chips, maybe a hot dog, some cookies and a 2 litter soda to wash it down, and sit your fat a** on the couch, and waite for your other kookie friends, until the water warms up to 60 and join the rest of the other 50 kites on the water....
Personally, I get kinda bitchy if I don't kite for at least 1 time per week...So hell yeah, even if I have to kite alone, I'll probably do it. It's always way cool to have your bro's with you but sometimes, your bro's got other plans like hanging out with there girlfriends at the malls and stuff.....But it's always good to think before you kite, if the wind is like 5-7meter, than I might think twice about going it along...

Actually, the water temp isn't all that bad....Last I was told it was near 38degrees...
Anyone know what it's up to now...? 39...?...40...? Can I get a 45...?
I seriously think it felt like in the mid 40's on Sunday...

Warmest it has been in the last 3 days was 38 degrees (and down to 36 at times)!
