...and a new board.
Couldn't take it any more. Saturday I watched a few kiters out at RR. Today I awoke to a slight west wind in the Hood, checked ikitesurf, WIND at Doug's. Head to OpenOcean. boards done, looks sweet. throw on the pad and straps, head to water.
9.5m kite, 15m conditions. crap. pump anyway, wind comes up, for about 20 minutes.
Board rocks, wore my self out in 20 min. Brian Hinde
sorry, solo session. no water pics.

Damn! looks like a sweet board. Can't wait to try it out. That is if you trust me with it
Had a session on the coast myself couple days ago. Had fun for a few but I hadn't pumped my kite up enough. Lots of crinkling and folding. Too stubborn to come in and pump up more. Disastrous. Bow tied and in the waves... Big waves... big storm waves. I didn't want to release my kite this time so the kite got to be my parachute back in. Bad Idea! Broke a right bridle line. I'm hopin a square knot will suffice. Need to test it out. Glade you got out man!
Sessions... Good for the soul.
Btw man where is my 2m

I sent it out yesterday. Hopefully today or tomorrow. Was that on your 12m?
You can use my board for sure, just keep to the deep.

Yep. Glad there were lots of knots in the bridle line for extension

The first time i crashed my kite in real waves I didn't release either. I couldn't see what was going on as I was in the trough and then instantly I was being pulled underwater in full on scorpion pose. Won't do that again.

Brian Hindes is the man. He made me a race board for the Gorge Games in 24 hours that was competitive with all the current guys like my brother and Damien Leroy. After finally getting it dialed it is even faster, a little late for the Gorge Games though.
Brian is a very famous shaper, he used to shape for Lightening Bolt back in the day and still has some collectors item boards he shaped worth thousands of dollars. Anyone looking for a high quality board should check out his shop in Lyle. He will taylor make a board for you that will last forever and most importantly, rip.

hey groundclown,
looking at the bottom shot, those thruster fins look to be much straighter than a regular surfboard would have. is that an illusion or did you actually ask for that? curious as to the performance. i have found that regular surfboards have a lot of drag for me and i don't like the feel.
thanks

the toe is a slight bit straighter, but it's mostly in the fins. I told Brian what I was looking for. s mooth and tight turning. These fins are at about 1 Deg. I got another set with a 3 deg cant. the straight fins keep your rail up a bit, and a lot less drag. these fins are pretty high aspect/ thinner profile. The board has a single to double concave with fairly hard rails. I had him make it about 1/2" wider than some other boards out there i was looking at. I can tell I will like it better than the SST I was riding last spring. Also had it built extra heavy duty with a wider stance to hold up to my "dangle" wake-surf style riding.

Is this from one of the new closed-cell blanks or is it an epoxy board?
I've sailed Brian's boards for years and live for 3.2 days on my 7'11". Can't wait to try one of his kite boards!!

Shred,
It is the new US Blanks, closed cell urathane. it is the new lighter, harder version. this allows Brian to build in about 1.5lbs more reinforcements without the added weight. Brian has a winter savings special going on right now too. If you want to try mine, just let me know, or Brian can hook you up with a demo. His rail and bottom shape are so smooth on the water.

here is the board brian built for me. 5'2". you can run it as a quad or tri-fin setup. you can adjust the fin angles. great jumping board. strong as heck. easy to jibe even with the small size. my only regret is that it just won't quite fit in my nsi travel bag.
