Man! What the heck happened? Does anyone know anything on this? Man, say it isn't so! Scott H. from Seattle posted the news but didn't give details for obvious reasons. My prayers are out!

Apparently Big Steve (Steve Anderson, firefighter) was there with others to do what they could but unfortunately tragedy struck and people are bummed in Ventanna right now.

Wally, for those of us who have friends in La Ventanna right now, can you at least provide a link to what info (if any) is known about this incident? You mention a post from Scott H, but I can't find anything on nwkite/kiteforum/pskite.

I can't tell if this is a really bad joke about the dead squid in the photo, or an actual kiter fatality?

Yeah, sounding the alarm without any info would be great. When we were down there a 60 something guy got lofted then launched into a large pile of rocks. First people were saying that his femur was sticking out of his wetsuit. I eventually learned that he did snap his femur like a twig..including his shin and his hips but his leg bone was sticking through his wetsuit. He was in stable condition in the LaPAZ hospital when we left.

It was surprising how many newbs and utter kooks there were in LV. Kraemer got tomohawked like what 3 times in one day? It was like Sauvie island south.

I'm thinking (hoping)

Bad joke also, just the proximity of the squid pic and the offhand semi sincere (afterthought) placement of it.

I've folks down there as well...

Hmm, not funny

fuking kites, fuking rocks, fuking moss covered comedians.

Let's get this sorted...
Thanks

It would be a really bad joke as someone has already died in Ventana this year and another woman has been put in a coma.

I heard that somebody drowned but wasn't sure if it was heart attack in water or from being dragged by the kite in the water. Will try to find out more and post here if I get a reliable reply.

I hope it is not true.

Thanks for the info Marina. Also thanks for putting so much effort towards the kite expo! Every time I saw you, you appeared to be in full on task mode.
