SCHOOL -- 1957 vs. 2007

Sad, the little ants we have become. Even in the 80's, high school kids had guns in there trucks at my school.

Scenario:
Jack goes quail hunting before school,
pulls into school parking lot with shotgun in gun rack.
1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun,
goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2007 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail
and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in
for traumatized students and teachers.

Scenario:
Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.
1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins.
Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.
2007 - Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Johnny and Mark.
Charge them with assault, both expelled even though Johnny started it.

Scenario:
Jeffrey won't be still in class, disrupts other students.
1957 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by the Principal.
Returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.
2007 - Jeffrey given huge doses of Ritalin. Becomes a zombie.
Tested for ADD. School gets extra money from state
because Jeffrey has a disability.

Scenario:
Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car
and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.
1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal,
goes to college, and becomes a successful businessman.
2007 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse.
Billy removed to foster care and joins a gang.
State psychologist tells Billy's sister that she remembers
being abused herself and their dad goes to prison.
Billy's mom has affair with psychologist.

Scenario:
Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.
1957 - Mark shares aspirin with Principal out on the smoking dock.
2007 - Police called, Mark expelled from school for drug violations.
Car searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario:
Pedro fails high school English.
1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.
2007 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state.
Newspaper articles appear nationally
explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist.
ACLU files class action lawsuit against state school system
and Pedro's English teacher. English banned from core curriculum.
Pedro given diploma anyway but ends up
mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

Scenario:
Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from 4th of July,
puts them in a model airplane paint bottle, blows up a red ant bed.
1957 - Ants die.
2007- BATF, Homeland Security, FBI called.
Johnny charged with domestic terrorism, FBI investigates parents,
siblings removed from home, computers confiscated,
Johnny's Dad goes on a terror watch list
and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario:
Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee.
He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2007 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job..
She faces 3 years in State Prison.
Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

Thats so true down here down in s oregon up in idaho east oregon not a big deal you can have a gun rack in your truck fully loaded no one thinks twice about it.

some kid got suspended just last month for having a airsoft gun on his car dashboard orange tip and everything.

rats in a cage my friend. In 1957 there were around 172 million people in the US. now the number is around 305 million.

Hard to point the finger at any one cause but I can say that in the US there is a severe deficit of personal responsibility. The end result is whenever anything bad happens its someone else's fault and people call the lawyers to sue people. People start suing the shit out of everyone and therefore agencies have to have policies to limit there liability.

If you fell in a construction hole and broke your leg in canada or mexico they would say "way to go, why don't you look where the hell your going" If you fell in that hole in the US, you would likely end up with a fat paycheck.

It seems to be a constant cycle of suing and running from liability. Not sure why it is so rampant here but I had a thought at one time that as a country, we are so competitive and base a large part of our worth on material possessions that frivolous lawsuits have become accepted as a path to those possessions.

So you take that, coupled with the fact that the US is generally getting dumber due to reproduction rates across classes, throw in a little bad parenting, a little internet porn and graphic videos that probably shouldn't be watched by young children and what the hell, lets make sure that everyone has guns
(to fend off those redcoats that are going to bash your door down) and all of a sudden the future is blindingly bright.

I was playing a jv football game in glide OR in the mid 80s. when a kid walks across the field with a loaded rifle and sits in the bleachers. The principle yells at him that he needs to take his gun home. Kid complains he was hunting and did not want to walk all the way home and then back as he walks off. We were the visiting team and thought it was pretty funny.

Thats just what i'm talking about. in 2005 my little brother was expelled from all Washington school districts for having a "Throwing star" necklace at about 1.5". It wasn't much heavier than tinfoil. A little more to it I guess, he sold it to a friend for $3 as he had two of them. They were both expelled.

Scenario: Johnny feels up Mary behind the softball bleachers during H.S. recess.

1957: Johnny and Mary go steady for a week, then Johnny breaks it off because she won't go all the way after Homecoming.

1967: Johnny and Mary eat mushrooms and go all the way after Homecoming.

1977: Johnny gives Mary a social disease that he got from Susie after Homecoming.

1987: Johnny and Mary join Young Republicans and take a chastity vow. Mary gives it up to Timmy after Homecoming but never tells Johnny. Johnny learns it from Susie, Susie doesn't put out anymore after getting dissed by Timmy.

1997: Johnny and Mary break it off when Mary comes out to Susie after Homecoming.

2007: Johnny and Mary go all the way after Homecoming, video the event but Johnny accidentally sends a copy to the wrong name in her MySpace contacts and the video ends up on the Internet. FBI and State Police are called, Johnny gets arrested for distribution of child pornography.

2017: Johnny and Mary on again--off again for 10 years after 2007 porno debacle, get married, and Johnny kiteboards the Columbia under the risible handle of "G-Man."
