Thu Jan 22, 09 4:12 pm where to stay in LV |
|
|
Hey There,
I'm going to LV March 2-7. I am staying at Palapas LaVentana for a kite clinic. I'm thinking I will head down a week early and I was thinking about staying at Baja Joe's. Is there a big difference? I also noticed on their web site that they have private beach houses. Has anyone stayed in one of those?
Any info on accomodations would be helpful.
Thanks,
MELo

Ventana is a small town. Both of those places are good. You will have fun!

Like Mark says, both places are good. Different feel to each one though. Baja Joe's is not quite as fancy with communal kitchen areas and a very social vibe to it. But it's right on the beach. I think the private beach houses are the units right up front. Literally 5 to 50 steps to the beach depending on which unit you're in. Joe's also has some bunkhouse type units that are farther back from the beach.
We haven't stayed at PV yet but the units are fancier and they are spread out running from the road all the way down the hill to the beach. Fantastic views of the bay and surrounding area. It's pretty unique as it straddles an arroyo and Tim has done a great job of working with the existing landscape. They have a very nice restaurant and bar on site as well.
Other places are Casa Verde, Captain Kirks, Bills, Ventana Wind Sports, Kurt & Marina's, or camping at YoYo's or North Camp.
You'll be happy where ever you go.

| The units at Palapas Ventana. Very nice inside and more privacy and space. Walk to the beach is a little long. |

| Beach units at Joes. Nothing fancy but you can't get any closer. |

| Looking down (south) the beach from Joe's - nice catchers mitt for beginners - you'll eventually end up on the sand as the wind blows from the north |

Thanks for the information and the photos are really helpful.. The hard part is having to wait a whole month to go. I think I will stay at Joe's the first week. Looks like a fun place to hang out.
