Anyone get hooked up with WiMAX yet? Portland turned it on yesterday I believe. Third largest coverage in the world behind Baltimore and Seoul I guess. They had a demo yesterday with some Intel folks. Speeds are around 4-6 M/s. Coverage is about 700 square miles around portland.

I'm looking into it to see if it going to be cheaper than those bastards at comcast. They are only aiming for 25% penetration in portland.

That small amount of penetration is probably designed not to offend the lesbians.

I'm waiting... but it is cool. My friend, Mel, works for Clear, so she's had her little USB WiMax/modem stick for a while. Doesn't have that great of coverage yet, but they're working on getting more towers up. 4G seems to be fairly quick though.

My understanding was all of portland was covered now, but i could be wrong. Would love to see it cover out to the gorge then I would switch over instantly.

PDX, may be fairly solid now, but testing from Gresham to Clackamas we couldn't get a strong enough signal.

Its cool, glad to see somebody give Comcast some competition. DSL is a non option for me, so this would be my only option besides Comcast (which I have given far too much of my money.)
