Nice hostals and definitely perfect for kiteboarding this time of year (no wetsuit required and plenty of wind), I'll upload a few pics of the wind & water when I get back
(unfortunately I don't have any kite gear with me )
happy new year to all in advance, I'll be spending it at the airport...

I was in Paracas in August. Small swell but lots of wind. A really cool place. Want to go back in the winter (their summer). Stayed at Jorges place: http://www.kiteboardingparacas.com/expeditions/expeditions.htm - really a gracious and accomodating host. Its right on the bay at Paracas and not very far from a few nice breaks in the natural reserve south of there. I would definitely recommend it!

Playon on the reserve. Would be incredible with swell. Wind is side off with left breaking wave.

Zarate, just north of playon, and still on the reserve.

Wind and water looks awesome there! Landscape looks really barren though? Anthing around there to do? What are the rates and ammenities at hostel? Are there lots of kiters, or is (was) it a hidden secret? I'm looking for a good warm water weather destination! COLD SUX.
Cheers!

The annual rainfall there is around 4mm, so not a lot of vegetation, have to go to the mountains for that. I did notice a hostel in town- there seemed to be quite a few around the country. There are also several good restaurants where the food is good and cheap. As far as anything else to do, I dont know- I was there to kite.
Keep in mind there was a huge earthquake and tsunami in this part of the country just over a year ago and most of the towns south of Lima are still in shambles. The people are really poor and everything is built manually so progress is slow.
When I go back to that area, I will definitely stay at Jorges place again. He provided transportation to the best kiting spots and restaurants and did it for an unbelievable rate. Definitely made it so we got the most out of our time there.

An establishment we probably would have not tried without Jorges direction.

Wow! That looks incredible! How is it to get there? Gear hassles at the airport? Internet ease? Would love to know more details.

Getting there was no problem: PDX to Houston, then directly into Lima. Once in Lima, we jumped on the bus that travels up and down the coast (Cruz del sur) and rode into Paracas where we stayed. You can travel up and down the entire coastline (and around the entire country) on the bus, which is like a double decker greyhound, and pretty cheap. I packed my board, a short suit, a 13m and 9m rev, and bars in a golf bag (the vacuum bags i heard about on this forum worked great) and clothes and a 7m rev in another bag (an afterthought, but the kite you see in the two pictures above). No gear hassles anywhere. Take everything you need with you though (gear wise). This is an incredibly poor country and kiting gear is unheard of. When I was there I only saw 4 other people kiting in that area-mostly had the place to ourselves.
Outside of Lima, internet connections are limited and mostly dail up. There is usually one place in town you can go to and get connected though...
