Greetings from Thailand,

I have been here since the 20th of October. The season did not start until November 10, but has been most excelent since then. I have been keeping a log of the average kite size on the water since the season started. The full record will be posted in a couple of weeks when the season has ended. So far, there have been very few days that anything bigger than a 12 has been needed, with many 9 meter days and a handful of 7 & 8 meter days. This place rocks! Even on a light day 14-14 meters (very rare this season) there are great swells to play on off shore a ways.

Here are a couple of videos I shot of one of the instructors on a 8-9 meter day.

Here is one that I found that is pretty representative of the place too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zoewr2zvtrA&feature=related

Here till the 19 of January to see the rest of the season at Thung Wau Laen.
Any questions: asiatravelers@gmail.com

Hey Synergy12,

I was just in Hua Hin last april. It was amazing. I was taking lessons with Rutger from kitethailand.com....is that the same roger you guys are speaking of? If so tell him HELLO from Tiffany! He was an exceptional instructor! That was the best time i have had kiting so far.
Cant wait to see your report!
If anyone gets a chance to go to thailand, i highly recommend it!

I have not seen Franks, so I would have to say it is gone.

Rutger is the same Roger we are talking about. He has been in Thung Wua Laen since early November and see him, his wife Ing and his son Derek every day. Have not been to Hua Hin, but really love Thung Wua Laen and would recommend it to anyone.

Breakfast Buffet......hmmm.......nobody here has ever raved about it....will check it out.

Tiffany....said hello to Roger for you. He is actually leaving for Phuket on the 6th. He has lessons lined up thee or he would not be leaving yet.

Jim...........Roger still has and uses the NSI winguage you gave him, he says THANKS!

Have had some great days since the 1st of the year. An 8, 9 and two 10 meter days to start things off. I am hoping for the seasonto go a latter later than usual, at the Northeast monsoon started later tha normal, and has been windy every day since except for 3 or 4. Gotta Love it!

Thanks for the info Synergy! Looks like you're having a great time. Very Happy Does anyone there no much about Pattaya? Is it worth going down for a day with kite gear? I know there are islands you can take a ferry to from there, are they any good?

I get 30 hour layovers in Bangkok, so no time to head anywhere else. I think next year I'll have to vacation there though, after reading your posts! Very Happy
