I got a new Rebel from SammyClaus, and am wondering about packing it up? I have searched topic a little, but only found bits and pieces. I did find comments on broken battens and such Embarassed , so am really needing a descriptive procedure for bagging it back up? Thanks! Wave

just roll it up tip to tip, keep keeping battens on top of each other in mind while rolling, then you should be able to fold into 3rds when done rolling. leading edge battens equals 1/3, middle of canopy equals 1/3 and trailing edge battens equals last 3rd. if traveling remove all battens, leading and trailing and they pack up really well

just keep the leading edge tight when rolling then when you get close to the dump valve fold the trailing edge in toward the leading edge and finish rolling

I have the 9m rebel and here's what I do to roll it up.
start at wingtip end opposite dump valve.
don't fold the kite.
take wingtip and fold it to the first strut.
then start rolling from this end and keep it tight all the way until you get over to the opposite side strut.
Keep leading edge in line and tight.
once you get to that point, fold that wingtip towards the other small strut. finish rolling
you should be able to pick up the now complete rolled kite and it will naturally fold at a point where the battens aren't restricting. I let it fold into half and then it fits into the bag.
make sure you pull the tongues out of the strut nozzles after deflating and prior to rolling the kite up.
I used to have a problem rolling the 12m, but once I tried this method, I never broke anymore struts.

have fun with that kite.

Thanks for the advice - I just got Rebels and will have to try stringy's method. I've just rolled them from tip to dump valve keeping leading edge tight as Holly says. My friend removes the battens and vacuum-bags his when he travels. Says it helps keep the kites crisp when being manhandled by airline personnel.
