Thu Dec 18, 08 10:32 am OT .... Venting about Ikitesurf noobs. |
|
|
So when you are selling something on ikitesurf and you describe the kite pretty well and let them know how much you want etc, etc..
Then the guy's response is... "how much you want for it? can i get a pic? and do you have bar and lines?" Don't go through the trouble of sending him all kinds of detailed pics and jump through hoops for him because he's not really interested.
I posted the kite 450 OBO complete with bar and lines. I should have known he never even read anything about the kite or he has the worst case of short term memory ever.
By the way 450 was too expensive for him even though it was initially posted at 450.
Sorry I had to vent.

Hey Andy - how much do you want for your bularoo? Does it come with bar and lines? can you send me a bunch of pics - preferably from each angle shot from a HD camera please?
Sorry man - you set yourself up for it _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

yeah, it can be a real pain in the arse.
I typically try to sell stuff here and on Ikite for about 2 weeks then just put it on e-bay. They make it so damn simple, one week, fast e-payment, links to shipping labels and its gone.
(not to mention that sometimes its crazy what you get for stuff). |

By the way I'm wondering if its someone on this forum because I sent him an email back basically saying he was a moron, and then he emailed me back asking for pics.

Sorry, I got you beat. $236 for a 03 slingshot torque. Affectionately known as the hinden-jelly. I felt bad selling it. But only until I put the money into my account. |

Anyone know a Michael Zuska?

I sometimes use Facebook, MySpace, and LinkedIn to check out people offering transactions. It came in handy once trying to decide between two offers, and a bicycle I sold on CL resulted in a business connection who introduced me to a lucrative client.
Googling your guy shows someone with his name on Facebook. Be careful of mistaken identity, though. If you google my name you'll find a former Canadian Parliament member who had an affair with Condoleeza Rice... |

Thanks for bringing up that Nigerian Scam thread again. I fondly remember that thread from back when I was just a lurker.
Still good for a great laugh. _________________ www.cautionkites.com

Dude - i am feeling Andy's pain here. Selling a board on ikitesurf - this dude asks for extra pics and a bunch of questions - then he comes back with a low ball offer. I respond - no thanks, I'll keep the board. Then the douche responds - "well, i didn't want the board anyways" and then says some other random shit. Like I said - a total douche. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

Yes, it helps to establish a real person.
Some people leave an internet trail a mile wide with what I think of as excess identifying data.
I like to buy from them
-though I wonder, the narcissisms can get a bit thick..
Zillow can help too -definitely more believable a guy might want to change gear before it's trashed if his house is nicer than mine, if you follow.
Or if he just lives in a neighborhood that's not sketch.....
I am sure there are wealthy scammers, but I haven't been hit by one yet.
Bitterness would surely ensue. |
