Hi,

Every kiter's life depends on the reliability of his/her QR when it's needed. What if it fails? Ever think of a backup system for it? I know that SS makes the Surefire but I often pre-release by accident or when going toeside. What do you think of a product like this?

The problem I see is that the donkey dick wouldn't hold the chicken loop on it as-is. Otherwise seems a decent idea. Any idea how much pressure it can take, if it compares to what a kite would put on it? Would guess it'd be comparable to hanging off a trapeze, but I've never sailed anything bigger than a 5.0. Wink

dude, those sailing spreader bars are designed to support your body weight,
not the intense traction of a kite...be careful!

I think the best back up is a sharp knife. Even the best system can get all kludged up when the shit hits the fan. Two kites wound together, jammed QR, wrapped up in your lines, stuck on a crab pot... a good knife is good for what ails you.

Stuff fails. Redundancy is not something to consider. It should and will be built into most products soon enough.
