Christina,
October 7th, 2008 was the best day that I have ever had kiting. We were at Rufus, strong winds, big glassy rollers, AMAZING wave riding, and I got to experience it with you! As we kite at the White Salmon bridge, or Rufus... You will be there because you will be in our hearts, with a smile on your face!!
Heres to you!

Does anyone have a picture of Chrisina? I have spent a lot of time at the spit and Rufus and wish to know if we knew each other. Prayers will go out to her and her family. This is very sobering for me. As the snow falls here in north Idaho with predicted 20-30 mph winds on the way, I am thinking about just sitting this one out. Heartbreaking and scary.

It's already been said so well many times by other locals that shared in Christina's stoke how special she was. If you were one of the few enjoying the swells at the White Salmon Bridge on a big day or just ran into her with her kid at Rosauer's she always seemed to be there with a big wave and a hello that made you feel special. That is a special thing in this time of such justified self importance that I am truly going to miss. I'll probably shed some tears next time kiting the Bridge but I'll look skyward and give a big wave. He had plenty of chances to take Chrisitina, I'm glad He gave us the time He did. All were lucky that knew her. The best to her family.

It is sad to see a loved life taken. I see here she leaves a legacy of stoke, friends, and family to carry on and do the same. Hard to ask for more...

There are an endless number of reasons that make Christina so likeable but the one that made me not like her (not really) was that she simply scored more sessions than me (and probably you). It seems like every time I ventured down to the the sandbar next to the event site, Christina was just coming in from her session. She had already scored the good wind and told me, "have a good session" before walking off with a smile. Walking on the sandbar with gear in hand and a glowing smile is how I will forever remember her.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of her family and friends.

I only knew Christina in passing on the beach but she was unmistakable on the water. A great kiter and always a smile that reminded you what a great time we were all having. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

Paul from Coeur d'Alene, ID here. Just saw a picture of Christina and my heart sank. I know exactly who she is. We kited together on many occassions and I remember her alive personality, her smile and her warmth. I was often blown away by her desire to sneak in sessions between being a mother and was always impressed when on a sweet day, she would pack up to go pick up her daughter. Heartbroken as hell!

My favorite memory of Christina was at a dinner party about 3 years ago. For the most part it was full of the usual HR athletic high energy junkies that most of us are. The exception was my sister-in-law, who does not have a single athletic bone in her body. Christina made a point of talking to her, finding out her interests and so on. Two hours later they were still at it.

Christina had the rare ability to make whomever she was talking to feel interesting, important, and special. That woman didn't have a single pretentious bone in her body.

I feel very fortunate to consider her a friend.

Thank you Christina.

Eric

I didn't know Christina but my heart goes out to her family.

Thankyou to Christina for her generous nature in previously indicating her wish to donate her organs and for her family in upholding her wishes even in a time of terrible sorrow. Her organs will help many people. She has given the gift of life and hope.

Heartfelt condolences to Christina's family,

I didn't know Christina personally, but my heart breaks all the same. I have seen her on the beach and she was inspirational to me as I was just learning to kite. Her big smile will be greatly missed.

Christina, I don't know you but I will miss you. Your energy and spirit will be with me every time I ride the Gorge. I'd like to help by providing gifts (or money for gifts) for the kids to help them through the holidays. This information may or may not be too personal for the forum, but it would be great to know what toys are on Santa's list for the children and where to send them.

With sorrow in my heart,
Ethan

So sorry to hear this awful news.

I know this is a local forum, but I check in on occasion and I know a few people from over here that have kited over there. I will pass on the sad news to the guys I know who take a trip to the Gorge every year. I am sure they will be just as saddened as I am to hear a fellow kiter has been so unfortunate.

The whole team at the magazine will be thinking of her today.
