Yeah, G you can also borrow mine if you wanted to. Not sure what the difference is, if there is one really. My wakesk8 has a padded deck. Grip tape may work better with tennis shoes although I don't recall you busting out kickflips..

thank for pointing out my lowly status - am hoping to man up but still psychically traumatized by your headstand on the slider (and that photo of the kid who tried to rip his leg-off on kitescoop)
Thanks Forrest
and Jake - should be able to get you 6' surfboard for Florida (bring your 8m and up)
rare I bust out the 5m but does happen on occasion- usually powered 7m when the front comes through and then 11m to driving to the cable park. _________________ Go Deep!

Brrrrrr..
Just got home late last night from SPI.
Gman.. I gotta skate you can borrow as well.. to tide you over.
But then.. you'll want to check out 2nd Wind Sports in Hood River for either the new 09 LF Kiteskate OR the new 09 LF wakeskates and wake surfers.
Pepi has upped the anti and will begin carrying some LF wake toys this spring!! Mostly skates and surfers and some Grind wakeboards for the winch crews!!
Check out the new skates online and 2nd Wind will have, or can get whatever you want.
Those guys at active are good people too.. but why not support the shop that supports kiting, even when buying wake?
Let me know if you want my skate. I have a wood and a moulded.

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't sell them. I am interested in licensing the design and have approached Surftech about that. When Corey Davis (founder of Hammersurf) was there last year he expressed interest and ask me to build one to send down. He is no longer with Surftech and I have spoken to Randy French about it as well. I am doing some design work for him right now. I also sent him information about the 6-0 surfboard I've been riding this season.
I've had both out down here in Texas and I must say that they have raised my level of riding to a higher level. The skate is amazing in light winds and along the beach in the ankle snappers and foam. It's really fun to drop into a small wave on it too. I've been doing that backside and then sliding it to frontside to improve my weak side riding. That has allowed me to improve my frontside riding when I'm out on my surfboard. It does have some fins so it's not totally like a bar of soap and still able to ride along the beach in virtually no water without the dreaded face plant in the sand. My daughter and I have had a blast on it behind our PWC this summer. She taught her BF to ride it and he had never ridden any kind of board on water. She is a great teacher though. It makes wake skating very accessible for beginners and old banged up riders. Riding without straps or boots really makes going down less painful. It works very well at lower speeds so it's easy to nail your first surface pass and then take that to the kite later. If you try that with a wakeboard you could wind up wearing a neck brace.
My surfboard has more tail rocker than any of the stockers out there so it cranks a good bottom turn even with me riding it backside. It is wicked fast so you won't get pulled off in the gusts without having to sheet out. (I ride fixed so I can't dump kite power - speed is my friend) It is also easy to ride slow so you can wait out a closeout and climb the white water. You can also keep your speed in check so you are not out running the pocket. When going back out, bring the kite low, load the fins and it squirts up wind with ease. It is really easy to tune for conditions and kite size with the fins. My prototype weighs just 6lbs complete with fins and pads and that weight savings will translate right to the production version if it materializes. It will never have inserts because they kill flex and cause horrible stress concentrations. I've got you covered with the stick-on inserts if you feel so inclined. My strapless pads are currently available from NSI. They are sourcing a special EVA that is very good and gives the feel of wax without the hassle.
So if you are interested in my boards. Contact Surftech and ask them to tool them up. Their offshore plant may be closed at the moment but maybe it's time to do more production onshore and put some Americans back to work.
Thanks and happy riding,
Hein
P.S. It's not about making money. I just want to continue to connect and apply my engineering experience to my passion for the wind sports that I have been chasing for almost 40 years.
