Anyone ever use the spray or wash in waterproof treatment for kites? I'm not sure if this is a petroleum based product, but most snow appearel is nylon is'nt it?

just an idea for older kites,....if it does'nt add much weight

Ya, I've used spray-on fabric waterproofing on some old beat-up foils in order to extend their life a bit.

It did make the kites fly better, and it adds a little weight, but nothing compared to the snow or sand you'll pick up in your open cells anyway....

That said, if a kite is old and porous enough to need that kind of help, then it's probably time to retire it and get a newer model anyway. Land kites evolve just like everything else and a 4-5 year old kite is typically just gonna suck compared to the new stuff no matter what.
