Yeah, he was around and provided a good deal of entertainment at times. I think we had a running bet on whether or not he would get run over by a freighter or not. Thing is, I even pm'd the guy some advice during the summer when he asked for it. I also made a (albeit annoying) habit of tacking my way out to him to see if he needed any help when he was swimming. Now I'm a cock sucker or whatever.

Question, are we sure Hamlin from Kitescoop is the real Hamlin? The guy always did come up with off the wall stuff from time to time, but he never seemed to be this much of an ass? Name calling and profanity never really seemed to be his thing. If it is really him, why the hell is he so intent on pissing off all the guys who'll be riding at his spot?
Hamlin, if this is you, Why? You really did get carried away at times and I understand the ban. But if you had apologized and promised to cool it, I'll bet PKH would have let you back in. He & Nicole are really nice people, being friendly would have gone a long way with them. Being a dick is not doing you any good & doesn't sit well with who you seem to try and be. |

Enough's enough.
Looks like I'm the dickhead.
I got pissed off for the ban and just freaked out.
I tried to use profanity to diguise who I was, but Nate and PMB figured it out pretty quick.
I could come up with tons of excuses like a broken tooth, broken rib, kite jonesin', and the like, but really none of that gives me license to be an asshole.
PMB was telling the truth when he said he was trying to give me advice and checking up on me during my, what seemed, daily swims. I really did appreciate it (and kind of felt honored. Wierd huh?)
Next summer should prove to be quite comical and rewarding for those eager to see me yarded with boots.
I might even take PMB's and Flydunes advice and pack some swim fins while out there.

Don't worry about it, man. Forums for kiteboarders are just wacked.
I'm pretty sure that most of us are behaviorally challenged. Especially
when we aren't getting our usual dose of adrenalin.
I wish there was a forum where we could respectfully share ideas and
stoke without the sarcasm, name calling, hating and general disrespect.

The Scoop is a quite the trash pit. Perhaps that is a compliment. But I've seen quite a few regular posters bail. Dereck Camacho used to post quite a bit but you don't hear much from him over there anymore. Maybe he has more important things to do. But you are missing out on his insights. That's a shame. Joby also appears to be a regular reader and his posts are very informative so there is plenty of potential for good vibes.
Is it really necessary for the wake style movement to bash about every other aspect of the sport? It doesn't bother me but I wonder if that is really the way to gain more respect and legitimacy for what you guys are obviously passionate about.
It's all in good fun, I am sure, but to the casual reader it must appear pretty hostile and at times just plain juvenile. Losethestraps appears to be off to a much more productive start. Riding boards with kite power is very much a progression of skills and interests that is unique and allows enthusiasts to remain stoked to try new things for a long time. |
