The launch depends on the water level. You should park at the east end of the lot (where it says Rooster Rock on green) If the water is low enough you can walk down the stairs and rig/launch right by the parking lot (you may hae to drift launch). Or if the water is really high you can take the path going east, about 1/2 mile down the trail you will come to a small beach that has plent of room to rig and launch. You will have to trad a bit of water on the path on the way out, when I was there last week it was shin deep.

Water level at the dam is the same as it was a week and a half ago. Water level at Vancouver will be a couple of feet lower... So probably a bit shallower water at RR.

Forecast looks pretty nuclear for Sunday. Might even be 5m winds... Adam, If RR is nuclear, your next best bet will be the airport. There's a beach park off Marine Drive just West of the Airport runways. When you get off the plane, ask the pilots what the wind was, including heading. If there's south in the wind (110 to 160) the wind at the Airport will probably be pretty squirrely. If the wind gusts at the airport are greater than 20, then your 9m will almost certainly be too big at Rooster. (That said, it can be nuked out at Rooster even if the wind is calm at the airport.)

When is everyone heading to the ponds? If Rooster is nuked out, I'm going to head there. Very Happy

SUNDAY...PARTLY SUNNY. PATCHY FOG IN THE MORNING. HIGHS AROUND 45. EAST WIND 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH CASCADE LOCKS WESTWARD... AND EAST WIND 5 TO 10 MPH NEAR HOOD RIVER.

What do you guys think the wind will be at the ponds today? It's not windy in Astoria now, but the Columbia Bar buoy is reading E @ 18 - 22...

I'm in.. I'm staying near 205 and i5... 8 am!!?? When will the wind turn on? Do u have any idea how the traffic will
be in the morning...?

Any chance RR or the airport will go off tomorrow?
The pond/lagoon seemsnlile a pretty fun spot, is it worth the drive out and back from and to Portland? How long will it take to get there?

Adam

Lagoon?

We've always called it the Ponds.
The Lagoon sounds too Baywatch.

Toby and Mark avoided the nuke-fest at Rooster and headed further east.
Nice day but chilly no?
