I hit RR just about the time Nak was taking off. A bit choppy SW of the island and the wind was a little gusty, but all in all not bad. Thanks to Nak for hanging around until I got going.
I tried to walk out to the island and probably could have made it, but after I got half way out, I figured it was easier to launch from the shore area or to drift launch.
Not much room to launch from the shore west of the island, but enough. You have to walk through about a foot of water to get there if you take the dragonfly trail, but I talked to a couple guys who made it without getting wet by walking up river along the hill for several hundred yards and then doubling back to the launch area.
All in all, not bad for November. |
