Craz z have you been to McDonald pass and is it the same McDonald Pass listed on the Montana DOT webcam list? Looks like they got enough snow to ride there but you seem to be the local.

Yes that is the same McDonald pass as the webcam. Its usually one of the first ridable spots each year, i was up there last Thanksgiving and it was good to go for snow. ,(then again, so was GT) Not an epic spot, but fun and pretty reliable.

Back in oregon now, recouping from the falls on the ice. The event was a lot of fun and we had some killer times at the local water hole. I recommend everyone get out to georgetown at least once this winter.

here a few pics, i'll post more when i get time.

Would ice skates have worked? That could have been fun.

Good shots boneyeti Cool

forrest, Ice skates would have worked. a board with serrated edges would have been good too. The ice was actually pretty dam fun, & fuggin fast! and there was patches of snow of various sizes to load up an edge with. I think theres a fewics of us jumping out there. if you fall you slide about 50-100ft Laughing

Yes Ice kiting is the shit!! , grew up a rink rat and a familly full of hockey players .. and was introduced to Icekiting from Alex Peterson he is insane on skates hucks it huge!! just throw on knee and elbow pads and I wear those snowboard jockey padded short or wat ever there called but yea I use a b-4 all the way to a 17 fuel on ice just depends conditoins , Its crazy you can skate away from the kite and create apperent wind .. love the ice!!!

A freind of mine makes a device that mounts to the heal edge of a snowboard called the Switchblade for riding ice with a snowboard http://mnkiteboy.com/
I really dont like it, I more prefer Skates !

The Godfather of Goergetown lake Keith Kallio(RIP) was nicknamed the icemonkey and
made his own boards for riding Ice ! I looked for some info but couldnt find anything but I remember seeing pics of his ice board, pretty wild!

Have U treid it SOL ??
yea its a good concept for ice and crusty icy conditoins, but it makes a unreal screeching sound from hell kinda like finger nails on a chalk board but 100 times more intense !! its not even like your actually riding a snowboard but more like you are riding a single s blade mounted to the back heal edge which means no toeside riding and its just a really unnatrual feeling its not like riding a board at all.. skates are made for ice so it just makes sense to me ,, tons of snowkiters in the Midwest and canada love the switchblade tho , Ive treid and treid to like it but unfortuantly its just not my cup of tea
Give Todd a call he would be stoked to get some Switchblades out west , season for ice is so limited tho not sure if its worth the 200$ Shocked
