Seriously though I think we are all over the big "us -vs- them" debate. Really, I could care less about it. My comment stemmed more from a "oh that's typical" standpoint more than a "oh windsurfers suck " angle. My point being, if you took a poll of 100 windsurfers and 100 kiters, I bet that many more windsurfers would think the winch was "lame" as opposed to the kiters.

This is most likely due to most windsurfers being older than John McCain. Wink

Naw, the winch is cool! Glad ya don't really think windsurfers suck. Wink No worries, I used to diss jet skiers as a young boardhead until one saved my ass after getting skunked off Well's Island at sunset. And skiers used to diss snowboarders...etc.

I am way too stoked trying to learn to fly on my Waroo's to even think of smack talking a kiter. Y'all have been super helpful and already I got pulled outta a jam when my newbie skills created a mid-river line crossing event - no damage! Kiters look out for each other eh? Even kiters that windsurf! Very Happy

I'm not as old as McCain, but well into mid-life. Near 50 and bonafide addicted to this thang. No cure. Who the f@ck wants to be cured!!!! But I'm still working to get upwind --- don't even know what intentional pops/jumps feel like yet!

I agree that more windsurfers would think winching is lame. I'm not trying to burst anyones bubble about the winching thing. The Oakley pool was kinda cool but still I think after a couple of hours I'd be done with it. I guess you have to find just the right spot or something?? You know you can buy a boat for the cost of a winch and you can fish off of it! Or you could head to the skate park. Cool to try it, don't get me wrong, just...I don't know man....?? There's got to be a better use for that winch.

We could try stripping you naked and winching you through blackberry bushes with it...

Haha, I'd love to see this. When and where shall we meet?

Harry, you said everything you needed to when you said you'd rather fish. Not saying fishing ain't fun, but we obviously have different ways of finding thrills. We'll stick to ours and you stick to yours and everyone will have a good time.

ok....enough is enough...I gotta give my 2 cents on this one...
First of all, how many boats can you fit in the back of a double cab tacoma - with 4-6 boards - about 10 kites - wetsuits - harnesses - and several beers...? And drive to the coast, unload it with 8 kiters on a mission - and use it on the beach - in front of moes resturant - with people from left to right asking questions - thinking - holy shit "now that looks different"...Can you do that with a boat...??? Find the right spot...? Shit man, as long as you have a few hundred yards of open country, you can do what ever you want with it...

Give credit where credit is due....Props for the winch crew in the hood for bringing this idea to life in the northwest and props for the pdx crew for spreading the stoke....

I figure, people shouldn't say negative shit, especially if you haven't donated a single cent or showed any sign of support in expressing positive ideas that help express the true nature of our Northwest Kite community...

who cares what realharry has to say , he is obvisously just tryn to push buttons and has NO IDEA wtf hes talking , ignore his ignorence .
Winchin came from wakeboarding just like the cable its just another device to get pulled by, its growth is huge and seems like kiters are catching on now also which is great its good to have the wake/winch influence on kiteboarding .

Who is your leader anyway? Looks like you guys are all following the same lost duck. What's the purpose of the shorts and shirts over the wetsuits anyway. Let's face it, surfers are the coolest and they don't do it....
I like the winch idea and the build of the winch is really cool. I can tell you guys (and gals) are all stoked up about it but still I just don't think it looks that cool.
I mean don't get me wrong. It would be fun or maybe novel to try it, I'd just rather put my dough towards a boat.....

Boat won't get you out at night.
Boat won't let you ride knee-deep shallows.
Boat can't tow you into waves.
Boat can't get you into a fountain/drop/waterfall(have'nt done it yet, but soon)
Boat won't run on a cup of gas all day.
Boat requires 3 people, winch takes 2.
Boat won't fit in the back of your car.

But i do like boats..just can't afford it yet... Wink

This is about the most intelligent thing I've heard on this forum.

I'm not sure what the advantage is of chipping away at somebodies fun.

A lot of it goes around on this site and,
some comes around

I know some things make me want to laugh at people ,

yeah, remember the golden rule of forums that I live by. If someone says something stupid, then call them out on it for the enjoyment of others. Laughing Laughing

I can't wait to get home and set up Candy Mountain. Any luck on finding two barrels yet?
