Dude, it's not our goal to impress you. You can tell how much it sucked by the frowns on our faces. Besides hanging out and riding with your friends is a sure way to have a bad time. You watched a video from our first day testing the winch we built ourselves with one little rail (which was done really well by the way, thanks Kraemer!). Why don't you do some research yourself on these things we call the internets and make up your opinion whether winching in general is cool or not. If you still don't like it then don't waste your time looking at our posts. Or if some of the footage you see gets thru to you then maybe you'll be stoked to see what we can eventually do with the winch.

I thought realharry was forrest or others just screwing around...but...if not..
Obviously,
we aren't riding the winch to show people what it looks like..or how cool it looks..
image isn't everything..not even close... you should ride for yourself, what makes you happy or stoked..
DUDE< it's like 5 min. from our houses, you can hit sliders/kickers, etc. and not have to own a boat... I think those are just minor reasons why its so fun. 
I have always had kind of a hard time doing the "pose" for photos/video thing....Seems like it takes away from the passion of why you ride..
-just do your thing and don't worry about how un-lame you look...

Obviously any group that names their winch "unicorn" or "candy mountain" isn't looking for validation from outsiders 
I haven't had the pleasure of trying it yet (damn knee) but once I do I am sure it will be a blast. You can't really see it from the first vid but its really all about getting into weird places and hitting cool features. Doing stuff you couldn't with a kite or boat.
Its also about hanging with a cool crew. The winch scene is awesome. Buncha bros hanging out in the cold quaffing brews and cheering for each other. Props to Tekko, Joby, Jake, and Forrest for kicking it off in HR, now its happening in PDX which is sweet. |

Indeed, big time props for the "founding fathers" of the gorge winch scene! Hitting the kicker on the winch was inspiring.
My wife is particularly grateful for the basement full of metal shavings and smell of gasoline, big pieces of steel in the yard, the "slider thinigie" sitting in the flower bed, and all my family shunning construction time spent in the garage. 
She's been a trooper though!! Thanks for putting up with the hobby of the month

As sick as the oakley pool jams are, the music to these edits aren't exactly helping the arguement in favor of winching because the music is indeed very very lame.

Maybe this spring the PDX boys and the unicorn winch can have a candy mt slid off with the HR boys and the evil grinch with thier royal slider.

As a newbie kiter, this sport totally rocks! And so does catching huge air on a 3.7 at The Wall (which is where I wish I was at the moment, gusting 35+). Ever loop a board? I can't wait till I can kite 1/2 as good as I can windsurf!!!
I know many former and current boardheads that love both pursuits! Just saying no need to talk smack about kiters or windsurfers - from either camp. Plenty of wind and river for us all!

Lest you forget, ITS THUNDERDOME!! and nobody is safe. You diss the winch, I'm taking your ass to the candy mountain cave. Ok, ok, he's just a chipe, not a windsurfing chipe.
Seriously though I think we are all over the big "us -vs- them" debate. Really, I could care less about it. My comment stemmed more from a "oh that's typical" standpoint more than a "oh windsurfers suck " angle. My point being, if you took a poll of 100 windsurfers and 100 kiters, I bet that many more windsurfers would think the winch was "lame" as opposed to the kiters.
This is most likely due to most windsurfers being older than John McCain.
