Hein, I thought of that but it looks, well, Gay. The height between the horizontal tube and the axle is only about 14" so the moment arm is not that huge. That's also 1 1/2 tube stock with 1/8 wall so its pretty stout.
I think the big thing was that there are several other people with the same set up and it hasn't been an issue. If worse comes to worse we'll weld a gusset in there or something. _________________ Bury me standing cause I won't lay down!!

When we were at the South Jetty at Ft. Stevens I was just thinking how cool it would be to put the winch on the beach by lot B, then walk north up to the jetty, even on the jetty, then drop in and slash those waves.... they were pretty big and clean on Sunday. _________________ Shallow Dive Design, 2nd Wind Sports, Airush, Trident Sports

Will need to figure out how to keep the line off the barnacle encrusted rocks - always challenge when I flyfish off rock jetties
- a couple of fluffers would probably do the trick _________________ Go Deep!
What about just starting on the beach? Angle the winch a bit into the ocean so you can edge pretty far out and get into the waves. With 1000ft of line you should be able to get far enough to catch something decent. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

nice work man... really looks good... let's see it with the motor mounted!
Then, I want a copy of the build plans so I can mount one on cape kiwanda for the cove break! Last edited by tinyE on Wed Oct 29, 08 10:27 am; edited 1 time in total

You don't need plans, the construction is quite easy, its an 8 step process.
1. Cut pieces to length
2. Set pieces on uneven garage floor.
3. Weld pieces together
4. Hold up piece, call over a friend and laugh your head off at how crooked they are
5. Cut pieces apart
6. Grind until your hands are numb
7. Re-weld
8. repeat process _________________ Bury me standing cause I won't lay down!!
