For sure, the amsteel is all that. They actually use it as wakeboard line all the time.

There are a bunch of winch forums that you can search. Really simple to build from what I gather

http://winchskating.com/forums/ is the best I have found for info.

Just be sure to use the search feature on the forum cause they wont tell you how to build one straight up.

Otherwise you can always buy a pre-made one from Tekko, costs a bit more but the build quality is second to none on the grinch winch. Plus it saves a lot of headaches in the long run I am sure

When there are more contributions than just Forest's? Seriously though the orders will take a week or so to get delivered. Then there is probably two straight days of fabrication/painting, etc.

In regards to the line, I put it to the people that are using it...

http://www.wakeskating.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23415

In terms of help, I need to fabricate the plexiglass ends of the spool. I was going to use my buddies manual metal mill or whatever you call those things. But if someone wants to fab them for us that would be great. Basically you need to make cut a 12" circle out of a square piece of plexiglass and then drill 6 holes on a cricular pattern for what will become the center of the spool and drill 4 holes for the hub to mount on to.

Pretty easy but everything has to be centered perfectly or it will vibrate big time.

I can do that for you. If you don't mind me offering them up on ebay for the other
home builder winch heads. Can you give me a sketch with some dimensions?

Not to change your design but a big piece of pvc pipe set in grooves machined in your
end plates might be a good design. McMaster offers 12" square 1/2 or 3/4 thick PVC
plate which would allow you to bond the pipe to the end plates.

What is the O.D of you your spool? Wall thickness?

I think it was $2500, but you had better check with Tekko on that.

Great idea! I am happy to help these sort of projects. I will give you my $20 this weekend. (not a fan of Paypal.)

This sounds like a full pull too! Take Hein up on this offer as he can make it perfectly, I can transport the parts into PDX next Tuesday.

Well, here is the video as promised. Sorry about the editing job, its fairly sloppy, haven't used Vegas 8 in awhile and my settings got fairly screwed up.

sorry forest, your footage got partially recorded over, all I had is like 4 seconds of a biff. Sad

Jake and Joby built a new rail and the box is now an upramp for it. Super fun, got some consequences, but it's mellow at the same time. You guys are going to love it this Saturday and should toss so dollars their way for building it so they can build more stuff and pay for the industrial lights they're renting.
