Looked through the Chicago forum and found this. Apparently there is only one beach in Chicago that doesn't have these signs. At the one beach you can kite at, you have to ask the lifegaurds for permission, they can say no. Then you have to turn in your PASA card (?) and get your streamer. Man I feel sorry for those guys in Chicago.
Anyway, there's another thread on all of that. This is a plea to join the CGKA so that it doesn't happen here. This picture should scare the shit out of you. It does me.

| in fairness to chicago it is a completely different beach scene there than it is almost anywhere in oregon and restrictions are probably more than warranted

Thank God we don't have 9.7 million people in the Metro Area (hard to kite when you keep smacking all those swimming skulls)
