That also raised a question...

Are people camping on the sandbar, or is that a no-no....??

Bonetti, are you saying you will be in town?

Good question Jake. I'll look into this and put up a post as soon as I know.

As for cars, yup, we are only allowed one car down on the sandbar, and the will be either the pick up truck hauling wood and tents, or the dump truck bringing down the snow.
We also will likely be flagging off the outer sandbar area to try to prevent any wanderers from either getting stuck out on the Sandbar or falling off the outer edge into the Columbia.

If we can pull off this event without any hitches (ie reasons for the Fire Dept or Sherrifs Dept to have to come down to visit us) then we can expect to be able to run this event every year.

PostWed Oct 15, 08 9:35 pm    FIRE! Reply with quote

Just an updated notice about our having bonfires during the party.

We have permission from the Hood River Fire Dept to have some bonfires using safe and environmentally friendly wood. (Thanks to Chief Walker!)

There will not be any snowboard or ski sacrifices in the fires. This is not allowed, cannot be tolerated and will result in a painfully large fine to whomever breaks this rule/law.

Sorry, but we've officially been notified of this rule, and besides, we are trying to PRAY4SNOW on Saturday, and protecting our environment is the best guarantee for us and the future generations to continue to be able to enjoy snow and the sports we enjoy because of it.

See you all on Saturday!

Pepi, I have a bunch of half used aerosol paint cans. Can I throw those in the fire?
How about a huge bucket full of steel wool? Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Nobody said anything about wood in the shape of snowboards and skis. The person who did the offering might be smote down for worshiping false idols but maybe the snow gods have a sense of humor? Idea

Have Hein CNC you a nice pair of skis and a board out of "environmentally friendly wood", then you can burn them! Thumb's Up

Yo guys...it's the eve of the big party and I thought I'd post up a quick checklist so no one is left wanting more at the Pray4snoW party tomorrow night.

For a most righteous Pray4snoW evening...

Bring...

Your Puffy Coat or equally warm attire. NOAA forecast is cold and clear

Beverage of choice

$3 Cash Donation for the Northwest Avalanche Center (they face major Govt. cutbacks...they help us, so lets help them)

Designated Driver or place to stay in Hood River (PM me if you need help with this)

Environmentally friendly sacrifice for the fire(s)

Boots wit da fur [wit da fur]

Camera to capture all the Pray4snoW madness (If we get enough submissions, I'll throw together a collage for next year's P4S poster)

And finally, a board of the wake, kite, skim or snow variety (skis too!) for those who wish to get their session on. Stay dry and take a drop on one of the snow features or suit up and take a pull on the Grinch Winch. We'll have both lines fully lit and ready to shred.

Fliers are all over the Hood, an article ran in the Hood River News, and Jenny at Timberline Lodge sent out the poster and invite to their entire client list. Grinch crew has been working overtime to get steezy for your viewing pleasure, and our sponsors are stepping up big time to make this a night to remember...

SO...no excuses! Be there, Tomorrow, Saturday Night, Oct. 18th, on the Sandbar to kick off the 08/09 winter season in style! Thumb's Up Very Happy Drunk

You're entering a world of pain if you don't Pray4snoW Saturday Night!

PostFri Oct 17, 08 2:33 pm    Overnight parking and other updates. Reply with quote

Okay, this is an example of how cool the Port of Hood River is with the kite community.

PARKING :
On the premise that you are possibly unsafe to operate a vehicle (or just too loaded) then you will be granted some leeway to spend the night at the Sandbar Parking lot, or leave your car in the parking lot overnight.

VOLUNTEERS :
Please either drop by 2nd Wind by 3pm, or meet us down at the parking lot asap to help pump up the kites and place the ground anchors.

GENERATORS :
We should have enough, but anyone who has one please bring one, we could use all the extra power as a just in case situation.

FIREWOOD :
Bring it if you have it. I've been down with the Flu the past couple of days, so have not been on top of the firewood needs. Help?

Sorry about not posting any updates the past day or two, but just kicked a nasty bout of the stomach flu.
Thanks to Nate for keeping everyone apprised of how things are coming together.

BTW - Forrest has been busting his butt on organizing the snow and slider stuff, so someone better damnwell bring a good camera or video camera, AND allow us to use the footage for our website=-)

Thanks
Pepi

That would be a "Yes", but you better be prepared to share some of that inebriating liquid.

PS - I forgot to mention that "Wally" from IPS Skate Shop is person to say a big "Thanks" to for arranging the dump truck which will be transporting the snow down from Timberline.
If any of you guys/gals ever go skate shopping in Hood River, it better be at IPS Skate Shop!!!

Yeah, Girl! You'll put all those guys to shame!!

This is the one time that I will be hoping for the wind to die off in the evening.

Something about pumping up a half-dozen 19m2 kites together in combination with 20mph winds somehow makes me a bit nervous.
