so we had to go out and pull the slider/ kicker back for the season, but always jonsin for a few more smacks--we set the slider in the mouth of the hood and sessioned the thing for like 3 hours in steady rain and no wind.
"how" you might ask
with tekkos brand new grinch winch
this thing is going to become my light wind, no wind, shit wind ride
runs all day on a gallon of gas, super smooth pull, friends hanging out, taking turns gettin down on the slider. only draw back is walking the line back out, which i didn't mind at all.
all going down again today, with the kicker added into the run
it is kind of a slider thing at 600 ft of line which from redbeards shack went all the way to the end of the marinas jetty. you can put two 600 ft extensions on it for a total of 1800ft which would get you almost to the end of the sandbar. we will get some chicks on it today to see what their opinion is. everyone that rode it yesterday had a blast.

It's a lot smaller than I had pictured in my mind!
Wondered how walking that thing out 600ft everytime would be.

it gives you time for reflection, and to ponder your next hit
we'll be at the sandbar around 12 today, if anyone wants to.....

sorry for the let down
all we got is video, i haven't had time to watch it--much less edit
it is tough to get someone to stand in 50 degree water while it is a solid sideways downpour from 20 + mph winds, to take pictures(saturday was a mess)
i was a bit surprised that so many people would be into the crappy conditions but we rode til past dark fri, sat, and sun despite having to shield your eyes from the rain, to see the slider as you approach
props to the camera guys for working in excruciating conditions
the kicker works pretty good
we will have another 20' rail made by the 18th so we can go up the box and gap to it
600 ft seems to be able to handle about 4 features
no snow tries yet but it'll work
omsi was slid by collin wright about 8 years ago behind a boat
haven't seen anyone do it on a winch, but i am sure you could

Next time I head up any of the rivers I'm gonna be looking for doable waterfall drops...that'd be sooo sick. And what about the potential for a waterfall step up? Oh shit! Spring runoff will definitely be a good time to check out the "back country" winching potential.
The cool thing is that the grinch automatically ups the value of all the sliders...no wind needed = easily three times the rideable days.

Umm, so who in the PDX area is interested in hooking one up? With a solid group of people it wouldn't cost much and we could have some serious fun on the no wind days. More riding in the shoulder seasons and after work. Jake, Chooch, anyone else? It was a lot of fun last Sat even with cold heavy rain.
