there was plenty of that. It was pretty intense when we left Dalton. Doable, but definitely in survival mode at times. Koodos to Emery for some CRAZY kiteloops.

PMB,
What would you estimate the actual wind speed on the water was while you were down there. Was it super nukie before noon?
Still don't have that 7m Rev you told me to get.
OT: I took that mountainboard for a couple rides at some local parks (not with the kite yet). Man is that a trip, being buckled onto a board with wheels, flying over the hard ground. At first all I could think about were broken wrists  , then when I calmed down, it was a real trip.

We showed up at Rooster today around 2pm with my smallest kite (a 9m) and sat around in knee-deep blowing sand for a half hour or so until we met this amazingly cool woman named Shawna. I hope I got her name right anyway! I helped her land her 5m and when she heard we were sitting around waiting for less wind she immediately offered us the use of her 5m. This was about 2 minutes after meeting her for the 1st time. Kiters can be pretty damn cool.
Kelton was pretty jazzed. He'd been unsuccesfully trying to convince me that he wouldn't blow away if he'd put up the 9m. He weighs about 125lbs. Everyone else was lit on 5's and 7's.
Anyway, it was a great day. And we did get to put up the 9m after a couple of hours.

I dunno 35? 40? I've seen it allot windier but it was about as windy as I would want to go out with the 7m (or any kite for that matter). There was smoke on the water during the gusts and that usually happens around 40.
One thing that Mark reminded me of today and is a good thing for people that are tempted to go out on too big of a kite should remember.....
going out on too big a kite (when its blowing in the upper 30's) and just riding it WAAAY sheeted out, your kind of asking for an inversion to happen. And if its blowing 35, its not going to be too pretty when the kite turn right side out. This is especially the case at rooster with the devil winds with huge gusts followed by a big hole, then another gust.
Good times though. See you in the AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh what fun!
We headed out at Dalton around 9-10ish and it was pretty insane on the 7m. Probably 35 sustained.
The sheriff boat flagged me down and tried to tell me something but it was just too damn windy to hear him! I thought he'd get the bull-horn, but he waved me off after two attempts.
How about that Dalton launch eh? Gotta like sharp rocks!

I talked to another kiter last week, don't know him, who said he got warned by the Sherriff's boat that he had to be wearing a Flotation device. Maybe they've decided to treat kiteboarding as wakeboarding for this purpose??? I don't think it would hold up in court if they started handing out tickets, but what a pain in the ass to have to go to court to fight it. Hopefully this isn't what the stop was about, or if it was that they'll just give up on the idea.

| I did the down winder from Dalton Point alone. Got on the water at 330 hit RR at 600. It was still blowin 30 plus when I left. Crazy sick day.

I had my dakine impact harness on... skinnier than a pfd, but you can't know it's not certified w/o taking it off - which is impossible!
It'd be mighty tough to give tickets in those conditions! LoL.
