I stopped at Jones again today on my way back from flying. It was warm, sunny, perfect side shore, and blowing 16-22mph. I should have spent the day there instead of just stopping by on my way back!
The wind was so steady that it felt "coastal". It was a lot more steady than the 16-22mph range would make you think. The rate of change was pretty slow, not gusty at all.
I had my anemometer with me since I'd been paragliding, so I know that the speeds I measured were accurate.
The sensor that iKitesurf uses seems to read about 5mph shy of actual. Maybe it's located back off the river in or near the trees or something?

I've always heard that the iKite sensor at Jones is located on, or very near that house across the river in the Wa side that has the bright blue sheet metal roofing. It seems that whatever the gust reading is... that's the actual wind.
Yes, way less gusty than the Gorge you are accustomed to.
