CABRINHA RACE SERIES-Five Man Show

September 4th was one of those rare days at Crissy. Very warm, lots of beach goes, wind, or better yet a slight breeze around 6-10 at Anita and less on the beach, and yes even swimmers, not in rubber, but eye candy in 2 piece suits! However, looked like wind on the outside so the race was on..and what a good call. Racers used 12-14s, chop was light with warm wind about 18 for the first race and picked up to 20-22…a spectacular T–shirt evening…and the racing was even better.

Five guys, Chip Wasson (Ozone), Anthony Chavez (Naish), John Gomes (Cabrinha), Geoff Headington (SS) and Nils Stolzlechner (Cabrinha) traded positions on the course all night and basically raced in a tight pack. Anthony was on an LMG design board, Chip on his new weapon from Mike Z, Gomes and Headington on NJS Designs and Nils on his latest prototype NJS.

After 4 races, Chip was on top as a result of a tie breaker with six points (1,2,2,1), Anthony second also with six points (2,1,1,2), John third with 13 points (3,4,3,3), followed by Geoff with 16 points (5,5,5,4). Nils captured a 4,3,4 and hit the start buoy hard at the start of the forth race and didn’t continue. And special recognition to the youngster Alex Smith who not only beat his dad, but finished with a 7,8,6,5. I’ll post more photos each day of you guys rounding the buoy.
