Season is gunna start winding down after this weekend... time to cram in a those few last trick attempts so you can own them, add em to your bag of tricks... and grin about it all winter. Very Happy

What are you going to work on this weekend?

I am going to go for some nice skim strapless ollies on flat water. Got some good tips from Nate and Chanson last weekend and its time to commit.

How about you step up to
some fixed line riding?

Leave your harness on the
beach, even. Shocked

It's a whole other world Cool

Here's a small kite fixed tuning tip:
Over sheet till she stalls at about
45 degrees, then let off ~6 mm.
That should be perfect.

from monkeyboy's stoke post earlier this year, i have got my unhooked forward and backward rolls down tight.

this last weekend it will be the backroll/kiteloop to work on. i have been getting beaten up on this one every time i have tried it. any suggestions or help would be welcome.

I'd like to dial in unhooked back rolls and front rolls and tackle some sliders at lake floras next weekend if I can find a ride down there.

KT, I have gotten thrashed trying these as well. From what people have told me, you may want to try this.

Rotate through your BR slowly and don't reef on the bar and start your KL until your like 1/2 way or more through your back roll. The power of the KL always kills any rotation that I have so it makes sense to have the roll almost done when you loop it. Then its just a matter of getting your feet under yourself.

I'm super bummed about the wrist as I was really going to sprint to the finish line to learn back to blind and the s-bend. Looks like dialing in a skim pop-shove may be the last trick of the year. Or maybe big hooked in loops.

Go out and kill it because I can't!!!!!!

hey monkeyboy,

that's good advice, thanks. the problem i was having is that i am always landing on my back, hence the kiteloop killing the backroll. i'll try and wait a little longer before pulling the bar.

weird, I just started landing backroll backloops and I've been jonesing to try some uphooked rolls for the last few weeks.

Anyway, mine aren't exactly legit, but I have learned a few things for the beginning stages:

1. light wind/underpowered is a good way to learn these. KL doesn't throw off your rotation as much and less thrashing if things go wrong.

2. If you're powered, start with your kite almost at 12 then just pull on the back of the bar and wait till the kite lifts you a little to start rotation. Starting with the kite low can be fun because the kite pulls longer/harder, but I don't land these very often and sometimes end up doing 2 rolls.

3. Always rotate fast. Because when underpowered you don't have much time in the air, and over powered the KL kills your momentum a little.

3. keep pulling on the bar even when you're about to eat shit so you don't crash the kite as hard.

Hope this is the trick you guys are talking about, if not I'll go eat my foot. Either way these are pretty fun, the kite def throws you around a little bit for a cool feeling.

I too have been consistently doing backroll kiteloops.
Wanna try them unhooked this weekend, preferably in underpowered conditions.
Any advice before I make the attempt?
Backroll kiteloops was my goal by end of summer and I achieved it, but summer isn't over yet, unless you live in seattle, then it is fall now...

For backroll kiteloops, be careful not to do those lame ones where you kinda loop and don't get any power from it.
I like to just do a kiteloop but rotate about the same speed as your kite.
When the kite catches me after the loop it stops the rotation.

This guy does em right

This week I'm working on "double back Mobie tindy blind railey switch to unswicht"
Marc kills those!

PS: I just figured out raleys to blind this week.
Front/s-bends to blind next week at Floras and I can live with myself this winter
