for helping me save my now ripped 11m from the tripod at Rooster today!

Should have just stayed in as the wind line was at the west end when we arrived, but ended up followed Jeff out since he took his 9. As the wind lightened up over the next 15 mins, it started getting little gusts of west. That initially just knocked my kite out of the sky and brought it about 30ft closer to me... Got it relaunched, looped it a couple times to see if I could get downwind a bit, then bam, another gust of west put it into the tripod! Mike and Joanne saw the kite then drove over to help. Used their boat to boost me up onto the ladder since the water's ~15ft. deep out there, then unhooked the trailing edge line holding up the kite.

I think Mike got a few pics, as did Irv from the beach! Yaaay! Cool

I'm sure they'll be posted later!

No worries Adam! Very Happy

Joanne & I were cruising up the river in the boat, heading to the East end of RR looking for wind. I noticed something odd about the channel marker, we were pretty far out. Anyways, I turned in to get a look, and it was a kite stuck at the top! I figured it must have been from Friday... As I got closer, I thought "That looks like Adam's REV?" Then we saw the rider was still in the water. Got close, killed the engine & realized it was Adam. Thank God the nest was abandoned, or Adam would have got pretty torn up rescuing his kite! Very Happy

Shitty picture quality, took 'em with a cell phone... Still good though! Very Happy

Adam,
You are lucky it wasn't May or June when mother Osprey is watching her eggs or chicks. I help maintain a bridge here in Tacoma WA where we have a nesting pair of Peregrine Falcons. She would have dive bombed you and tore you into a bloody, infected mess. Been there, but with a helmet and a double layer of coveralls.

haha, nice work. Just wanted to say we saw your kite up there and thought it was pretty funny, but sorry about the kite. Also, not to point out the obvious but there's like 3 miles of beach out there right now, and you manage to find the 1 thing that could mess your kite up.

classic pictures

Jodi and I saw the kite on the tripod from the east end of the beach. We were headed your way about the time we saw you dislodge it. Glad you were able to get it down.
Nice going Mike and Joanne.

Kip,
No doubt. I was a little worried when I first went up because I saw a BIG one directly over head when I first brought my board in. Figured it was thinking, "WTF are you doing to my house!" So as I reached the top, I was ready to hit the deck incase a huge bird tried to kill me. Thumb's Up

Ryan,
Normally we do ride upwind of the thing, but as the wind was died from the west end first, I didn't even have the power to get completely downwind of it. The kite itself was past it (after looping it a few times), but the gust of west pushed it back towards me and into the sign!
