While waiting to kite went down to Cascade Locks Marina to watch the Moth Nationals.
Really cool hydrofoils; plane in 6mph and Hydrofoil in 8-10mph.. Can go twice as fast as the wind however they do limit out in the 20+ range.

The whole boat and all is about 30lbs..(all composite and carbon) Trimable foils by a dragging wand; Wink

Jack Handey Moment:

I was sitting with my dad the boating expert at Stevenson and we could see them racing out there - I was telling him that they were sailboats but he was agruing vehemently that no sailboat could go that fast that they were windsurfers.

I was gonna explain that they were hydrofoil moths but decided that throwing down with the old man made more sense

Guess they really were windsurfers

My dad and I were sailing our tornado catamaran out of Stevenson last weekend, we hit 21 knots going downwind, and 15 knots going upwind (90 degree tack and jibe angles), and rode on one hull for about 3 miles

we've tried surfing behind it, its pretty fun, never tried a kiteboard/wakeboard though. It would have some trouble pulling you up on the water, and you'd pull the boat over if you edged to one side.
