Hey Best riders, what year is this kite? And is it a bow? Sorry for stupid question, but I cannot research it from my office.
That pink 16m looks sooo tempting, just right for SI. _________________ just wear sunscreen |

I think you may be a little disappointed with that 16.
Better off with a smaller kite and bigger board. (Not that this hasn't been said like 10,000,000 times already).
You would likely have allot more fun on a 12m and a skim than your twin tip and a huge slow 16M. |

Come on now MB... there's opinion and fact (though you did say "likely"). You state opinion. I know for a fact that out here on the coast, even on small days, a 12m kite and a skim board will get you squat and frustration!
Same on an SI day with the tide coming in. Get a F&%cking 20M kite and have a good time boosting, planing, and sucking down some cold ones rather than skimming and walking (oh BTW skims and 20M kites are fun too). I don't own it but we keep a 20M Machine out here for when there's light wind. It is a skunk killa. I only say 20M b/c it is about as big as you can get so the point is the bigger the better (IMO ) Last edited by barfly on Wed Aug 13, 08 11:29 am; edited 1 time in total |

The only thing a 20m kite is good for is displaying your gay pride.
It's been my experience that the skim and smaller kite will almost always trump the big heavy kite. As far as "boosting" on a 20 on the light wind ebb tide... good luck on that one.
Don't take my word for it...let take a poll.....
Which is the more effective lightwind "killa"
Big kite and twin or small kite and skim.... |

Someone actually has monkey dolls, plays with, and posts pictures of them. Three letter word... |

Brian, don't you ride a 14m T2 at Sauvie, which is probably closer to the 16m Bullaroo than a 12m? _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

Is 121 Cabrinha bar from Switchblade OK for this 16m Bolaroo kite? I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t work, but maybe someone actually tried it? _________________ just wear sunscreen |

Closer to 16 yes, more low end than a 16 bularoo..yes. AND my T2 color scheme has been described by some (who were standing on the beach while I was out kiting) as "gay" "south beach" "gay pride" and mt favorite "froofy".
I guess what I originally wanted to say is that the 16 Bularoo probably isn't the best lightwind kite on the market... that's all. You also find that with the amount of options in terms of boards skims, surfs, glides, etc. You may get by with your current kite and have more fun instead of simply mowing the lawn and signing your kite. |

Didn't mean to rag on your kite Brian. You make some good points.
To add to what's been said so far, paying $680 for an '07 kite w/o a bar isn't that good of a deal. You could probably find other kites for similar price from '07 or some lightwind '08 kites in good condition with a bar. Keep in mind that 50% off on last year's gear means a lot more for non-kiting gear. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

No prob, I dish it out so I must take it. FYI I got the 14m T2 "tequilla sunrise" kite for $650 brand new complete. kite/bar/bag/pump.. everything. |

Sounds like a great deal on a kite if you ask the Gator. I find it hilarious when I am the only one out on the water cruising and everyone else with the two kite quiver and skimboard mentality are sitting their tails on the beach looking kookily at me owning it. Big kites are still fun!
20m and glide will always kill a 12m/14m and skim all day, all year! |

barfly vs. monkey! I am getting my popcorn!
Yeah I'd wadger that t2 is probably about as big most 16's, if not bigger than some.
Coastal winds and inland are really different. Some days the coast putters around 8mph all day, whereas inland its usually on its way up or down. So usually by the time you rig big you need to change down. I think the wind on the coast is just different anyway, way more steady.
I think I am going to get a new 13m which will be my biggest kite in 3 years, but that's mostly because Nicole and I sharing quivers now so we usually end up fighting over the 11m. Will be nice for some coast days, some sauvies, and lots of SPI I think. |
