best price Honolulu, HI to (Medford) Oregon?

Aloha all,

I am looking for the cheapest / best trip to Oregon first weekend in September? I am going to a weddding in Medford, OR. I know there is an airport there, but the Honolulu tickets are pretty expensive. I thinking about going to Portland and then by rental car (seems like a better option right now).

Anyone have a suggestion? If I go to Portland, are there any kiting spots on the way to Medford? I mean I can see where hood river is, I guess east of Portland, and the Bend(?) south east. I am just wondering since I am not sure how much time I get in Oregon. Super busy these days.

any other advice (link bring the fattest wetsuit ever made)?

Hood River is way out of the way going to medford... The quickest drive is south on I205 and Then South on I5, about a five hour drive. Lots of spots on the coast, but again, not on the fastest route...

hit the coast on the way down (or back up). It's a little out of the way, but worth it!

We'll be around floras lake untill mid-september, Then back to the rogue valley. There's a few good places to ride and that time of the year is still OK winds, but a 16-13m kite will be money. I wouldnt bring a small kite unless you plan on checking out the coast (which is a good idea)

Medford also has an airport
but from Medford go west to Pistol River
then head to Florence
and there are some spots north of here also Laughing

If you want to save some money you could fly to Sacramento, CA instead. It's about 4 hr drive north to Medford.

Drive the coast you could hit Sherman Island by Medford you could hit Pistol River on the coast

and I think by this weekend i'll be able to ride strapless. thanks for your concern, It was hard to sit out and watch at KB4C. This really makes me respect people who dont let there ailments get in the way of there dreams....dont take a fully-able body for granted

hey guys, thanks a lot. Really appreciate the feedback, I'll check out the other airport options, but right now I think we're aiming at Portland since we can get it using miles on NWA. Portland is 4-5 hours drive from Medford right?

Hey Alex, my mom's coming out the same weekend from HNL and we just picked up tickets on Hawaiian for $380 RT non-stop to PDX. That's about as low as I've seen it in quite some time! Have a great trip and check out Whiskey Run, Pistol River, and Floras Lake when you're in Methford (pun intended). Wink

yup, I guess thats the price we're looking at (or 17k NWA points). right now I am not even sure I'll be able to kite...which sucks ass, since well..i kind of like kiting.

I have flown into portland and Medford. From Portland the gorge i soo close you can smell it. It would be wise to go if at all possible. Stevenson is 30 min closer then hood river and a fun spot. It took me 4.5hrs to get from Portland to Medford. No water to be seen from the highway. Thanks so much for posting that sokats site on here. I go to grants pass at least once a year now, and I am stoked to see all these other places to go! I had an EPIC time at the games and the Botg. See you all next year. PS. Its FREAKIN HOT here in MX!!!! Shocked

Hope some of the great people I met can come visit and kite with me.

hey thx all, it's going to be a quick one. Hopefully I can come back and meet you all later. Flying in to Portland, going for a pre-wedding and then wedding the next day (I don't get this American tradition...first you practice marry and then you marry?), and if I don't get too drunk (I even had to get a suit for this...), I'll be able to get up in the morning and have a session before my flight back on Monday...thinking the coastline seems mighty tempting.
